Exactly my point, referencing Tom Curren. Surely you remember the '91 world tour event in Haleiwa, when Curren absolutely KILLED it on a new board that he rode without his sponsors' stickers on it, then lost his sponsorships? The buzz was that Curren was trying to make a political statement that was anti- pro surfing and corporate sponsorships. The reality was that he just forgot to bring his stickers, and said, "F it. I'm surfing without them." What this means is that it's always surfing first, and sponsorships second. That it slipped his mind to begin with is a testament to that fact... he just didn't care that much to remember. Stickers fall off. So what. Waves come. Go surfing.
