Went out for my first hurricane swell and had a blast today. Definitely got worked more than not but I caught a few good ones. Need to learn how to flutter kick and duck dive better but that will come. Hoping everyone else scored today!

A flutter kick is when you snatch a snapper blue with your hobbit foot for a mid session snack….its all i got for that.

Sounds like you scored too. This swell was made for south facing breaks.

flutter kicking is what you do with your legs when you freestyle swim aka kick your legs.
does anyone have any tips for doing that?
im sure itll come with practice but it just doesnt ever feel right.

I'm sure there's a swimming forum for that. Post your question there...

Don't bother kicking your legs, waste of energy, it's all positioning, timing, and paddling efficiency

    Or get a WaveJet:

Seems like cheating though. Bet they go over big in the line-up.
Could see their use for disabled or handicapped folks wanting to surf or perhaps for lifesaving purposes.

Forget the flutter kick. Try the frog kick instead. Much more effective in getting into 23 foot barrels.
