At around 4:25 he says it all... "There is no object of consciousness. The experience itself and you are the same thing." That's what surfing is all about for me. I call it a, "Zen Moment." And I agree that it does change your consciousness forever. You'll never be who you were before that moment, and it colors how you see the world from that point in time, forward. It becomes a lens through which your life experiences are filtered and put into perspective. I heard a non-surfer once say, "There's something about surfers that make you feel like they know something about the world that you don't."
