Having a hard time getting the fins out, seem to be pretty stuck in there. any suggestions to get them out?
I only use futures...but I would suggest a rubber mallet as that has worked for me in the past. Additionally, a little bit of cooking oil or dishsoap can help. In the future, waxing the base of your fins before putting them in really helps if it's a recurring issue.
yeah it was just a little stuck. only had performers on it so i wasn't to concerned about ruining them, I used a lead hammer and they popped right out. thanks for the help.
They are meant to be hard to get out. I make everyone put one in and pull it out of their new board before they buy it just so they know how much force to use. In my opinion the composite fins stick more than the glass fins. Try to upgrade maybe. We just got in some Fanning and JW fins in today that looked great.
IMO, 100% correct. I slightly sand the side of the base down on my composites if they are snug...haven't had any real problems when I upgrade.
i just grabbed some compressors for my couch potato, hopefully they work out nicely. unfortunately i was tearing my hands up trying to pull them out, the lead hammer worked. after one i used a pillow between my hand and the fin and they came out relatively easily.
I think im going to break my board everytime I take em out. When sticking I put a hand towel around the fin and put dish soap around it. Comes out. I have the large carvers and I have yet to throw turns like Adriano de Souza. I'll keep trying. But they do have more jump than my previous fins. I can bounce turn to the face when im stuck behind. Which is fun.
