Love Dinosaur Jr. Saw them in '91 and it remains one of the best shows ever.

All of their best music (IMO) was made well before "grunge" was even a style. They were pretty original sounding at the time. Check out "Dinosaur", "yr living all over me" and "Bug" from the mid-late 1980s. Amazing stuff....sounds warm and crackly ripped from vinyl. Geezer out.

Mitchell and PJB... no arguments from me on the old school stuff. They're still what I turn to when I want that old, familiar feeling... I put those indie bands out there under the "new music" question the OP wanted to suggestions on. As for all new bands sucking... I don't know about that. You really don't think it's all been done before, do you? If so... I suggest you listen closer. Just like all waves being different, so is music. But just like not all waves are good, so is music...

Now you're talking. 70's Black Sabbath! The 1980 Heaven and Hell album (no Ozzie though) was good too.

Cep's on it again. Box of Crackerjacks for you.

I like how you use The Sounds of Silence to calm yourself when getting slammed by thump bubs. That's awesome.

I sit on cold, dreary beaches and have Scarborough Fair playing in my head.......sometimes I imagine affairs with older women.

Pop culture is dead these days. There's nothing less. The bar has been set so low, and James Cameron's sub has been destroyed(South Park reference # 456).

Yeah Heaven & Hell was good.

The end acoustic piece at the very end of the song "Heaven Hell" takes me back to another life of mine when I was murdered in medieval England. We lived in shack in a clearing in the midst of some woods....Shetfieldshire forestershire something or other. Father was gone and my mother and I was killed by highwaymen.

That's a true story. When ever I hear the end of "Heaven and Hell" I am taken back to that place.

Janes Addiciton. One of the only good things to come of heroin and lsd. No, not been caught stealing or jane says, the only 2 songs you have probably ever heard from them. Start with "Ocean Size", hell yeah, that song makes me want to surf all day. No talking man all action. Try out "whores", ya cast that pearl and it don't upset em. Hell the whole ritual de la habitual cranks. Give it a listen. Then move on to Porno for pyros. "Tahitian moon" for sure always gets me going for a good surf." Packin .25", right up on my boot. "Cursed Female" shes fresh as strawberries dude. Black girlfriend, orgasm and many others that todays makes todays music seem like crap, because most of it is. Some early NIN gets my blood pumping too. Hell I would listen the the whole "Downward Spiral" driving to the coast and it got me pumped. My ears would be ringing. I also like and have seen Suicidal Tendencies, henry rollins and tons of shiz like that.

Look to the classics. Been listening to David Bowie and The Police a lot. Try Beehtoven if you want to really change things up. You'll be better off than just listening to the new one hit wonders.

My buddy has some awesome "beach folk" type music. His band is called "The Fourth Son". Great music for ****ty weather like this.

My favorite song is "Show You How". It's got a pretty rad little music video for it as well.

Let me know what you guys think.
