Jellies and Jerseys. Summer is full of spineless gobs of goo sucking the fun out of a season.

 

If I look to the right and I can smell it, it best be sitting by my head, on my beach towel, or I'm not touching it!

 

You know dudes, I used to be all aggro against summer and the crowds of tourists, but.........

But I hate to say this cuase it sounds so stuffy and lame, but I reckon I grew up.

Though some say, on here, "We don't need tourists for the local economy....." Well maybe YOU don't but alot of G's do. Alot of businesses make all their scratch from May to September.

Plus, it's barely even three months out of the year, at least in Nueve Yersey. Memorial Day comes and then there's a three week in-between zone before all the schools let out for the year. Yeah southerners, our kids up yonder don't go back to school in mid-August so they don't get oot until mid to late June. So you are basically looking at two friggin months - July and Augustus.

Yeah, there's some bad apples, but most people are just families with young kids just trying to have a good time. Most of them just sit on the beach all day and stare............

It's the worst time for shred peaks, and most 'cane swells are overhyped anyways. Go to Rhode Island on 'cane swells. That's Rhode Island. Ask them where Tuckerman's is........

Be cool, and don't get bent. Maybe you'll meet a friend, or a really good bathsalt connection. Chill out and enjoy the warm water most of y'all are always talking aboot.

Be an ambassador of your area. Give good vibes and maybe you'll get some.

WOW way to turn it around Paddington Bear!!! Your right tho- generally families are here on a week of vac... just trying to have a good time and relax and get away from everything....even those ol summer pros!

Nahhhh, Seldom, don't worry I don't have anything against Rhode Island. I think you , personally, is be a top notch dude, and I'm cool with Rhode Island people. My recent snaps haven't been against RI per say, but dudes who claim RI is 8-10 foot on every swell. Ironically, I've been standing-up for Jersey lately, and I don't even like the place anymore. Go figure.......

Actually, I love Rhode Island and the whole friggin New England coast. I even think it's cute when Naraganssett guys try and throw vibe at places like Monahan's. I have a few comical stories aboot that. They have the beginning vibe down pact(the solemn look and the air of coolness) but they haven't figured out how to finish it off. And that's the important part. Ahh good times.......good times...

JESUS(walkingonh20): Yes, I am have been turned it around some. I'm a friggin model citizen these days albeit one who rants to himself and yells at the Television.......... Waiting to get water ice can be a life lesson, Jesus. Patience is a good thing. It really helps in life. Being calm in all situations is key to a jersey warrior's survival. Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm

When I was up there last Sept my buddy and I thought about paddling out there, but no one else was around and that is one sketchyazz looking place, so we tuckermaned our tails between our legs and surfed that beachie at the end of Purgatory instead.
I had a great time up there and hope to chase another 'cane up there this fall.

Good call, Erock, for sometimes I do fantasize aboot a warm, tropical island, but I'm kind of a cold weather dude.
I even know some chick on Block Island, so she can be like our French-Underground-contact-type of person. She could derail trains and cut communication lines before our D-Day invasion.

Oh smack, I just read in the newspaper(The Philadelphia Inquirer for those keeping score) this past Sunday about a PIZZA FARM, Erock. I told you, man. Ok, they don't actually grow pizza but.............close enough.

Yeah, people don't get me wrong. I dig Rhode Island. Shoot, one of my old buddies was from Warwick for God's sakes. The coastline there is quaint and b!tchen. I stayed at some hotel once, and it was quaint and b!tchen. I watched Hogan's Heroes in that room, and I think the place was hainted(Huckleberry Finn). It's friggin beautiful there. I ate pizza at a pizza joint that was quaint and b!tchen, that was part of a little shopping compex that was quaint and b!tchen.......just across the road from the ocean..........which was.......anybody....anybody? Right, quaint and b!tchen.

And if you wiped out 90% of New Hampshire's crowds, that place is even more b!tchen.

And Maine........wow, I dig that place. Portland is a cool-as-hell little city. And who knows what spots they got up in Northern Maine? Desolate potential, brus. Kennebunk is totally quaint and b!tchen. I did a year-and-a-half of higher education is Massachusetts and Maine's got some killer kind. We used to make that drive often. It was more special up in Maine. Just mo special.

Oh I forgot to lay down homage to Cape Cod, too. I dig Cape Cod, but wouldn't go there in the summer because of all of the cars, man. Probably a cool place in the summer, but the cars, man.....all of the cars. But Cape Cod on a windswept winter's day is A-ok. Kind of get "Summer of 42" visions there. Plus, some dudes on here would LOVE Provincetown.

And take that forecast with a grain of salt, partner. Just a tip. Dude, give up the surf report scourin' and just go to the beach, my man. Just go.

I'm a 2 hour drive each way from the RI breaks. I'm not going to drop everything and head there on a whim because I wake up in a cold sweat with visions of barrels and Hindus raging the shores of Newport. Especially not when I have 3 breaks within a few minutes drive and then another 10 within 30-60 minutes.

When one website emerges as the one and only resource needing to be consulted for accurate reports that we can base our work days, travel time, and lives on, then I will pay homage solely to that single site. The reports on this site are good and the forum is kick ass. There are other resources that are also good and at times more accurate.

I do take these reports with a grain of salt, which is why I continually monitor them over the course of a few days when for example a report says that RI will get 6-8ft swells 4 days from now. That's done so that I'm not driving 4+ hours to charge waves that aren't even happening if the report falls through. Take last weekend, I stuck around MA/NH because the report around there got better and better even though RI still looked impressive. I'd have made the trip to RI to enjoy those big days if it was going to be flat around here but it wasn't.

I do go every day to the beach to surf. Every damn day. Actually about to head there now to enjoy some 2 footers since every wave is a gift and they're only 5 minutes away. Doesn't mean I'm going to stop looking at reports to most practically plan my life around the waves I want to ride, which is what I do as much as I can, plan my life around it.

Here's to Hindus and 23 foot peaks! May the canes hit the ocean before the Great Plains do.
