    Hey guys,
I'm new to surfing (4 months) and this summer, I'm going up to Manhattan Beach. How are the waves during July? I'm going to need to buy a board out there, so what type of board is good for summer surf? Also, I'd love to have someone teach me some new stuff, so if anyone on here offers lessons, let me know! Thanks so much!

If you're talking about CA, check with surf shops in the Manhattan-Hermosa-Redondo beach area for local surf info, boards (used and rentals), and lessons.

Gaffer has a lot of spare time on his hands these days. Maybe, if you're nice to him & buy him that ...Lost stick he's been drooling over, he might show you around. Consider him an inexpensive investment in your passion. I believe he prefers epoxies.

That long stretch of LA beach break absolutely sucks balls during the summer, doesn't take south swells very well. You're better off driving north past Malibu or south towards Huntington.

I'm willing to drive anywhere! Is there some fun wave to be had?
