I wasnt trying to single out your post S2Kreative, i thought the link you added had shed new light on everything for me and was the cause for my posted opinion thats all. this has been a heated thread so i wanted to clear that up. Also To everyone I think Zippy's post about Sunny not using baby wipes was the best yet. NO HATING JUST DEBATING
Is the hui a gang? The more I think about it the more they seem just as bad as the bloods or crypts or whatever they are these days. Gangs are known for drugs, money and violence. Throw surfing in there and you got the hui. Or whatver they call themselves, bra boys or something. Are they the same? Bad move dropping the charges. I would have gotten my family out of there and stood my ground to see it through. Of course that's easy for me to say from behind my comp screen on the east coast. There's no need for that type of violence. Its just ackward. Watching that made me uncomfortable.
THANK YOU. It was already over at that point. I think it would be entirely appropriate to exchange words calmly and express that it's not okay to mess with my son. Immediately afterward I would take my son aside and let him know that this is surfing. There's no need to throw fists. That's uncalled for, and to chase after the guy like Sunny did...he's basically setting the example to his son that violence is an acceptable recourse. Sometimes swallowing one's pride, having a firm conversation, and ending it there is the best option. Embarking on a path of vengeance starts a cycle of retributive violence that NEVER ends. The Hui and other in Hawaii are stuck in this cycle, just like North Baltimore neighborhoods I mentioned before. If you don't believe me, ask Zach how things work there (hope you don't mind me offering your opinions...): Guy looks at guy in wrong way. Guy talks #%$. Guy shoots guy. Guy shoots guy's brother. Guy shoots guy's sister and other random guy by accident. Random guy's brother gets involved and shoots someone else... ...the cycle goes down this endless path that's almost impossible to stop. That's how this works. Revenge is never satisfied. Example: A friend of mine in Bolton Hill (Baltimore neighborhood off North Ave) just lost his 24 month old niece to gun violence. I can't imagine the feelings that must have gone through his head, and I would never claim to be a fair judge of someone who has experienced this. Despite the pain, I heard the words "What else can I do? I forgive him. If I don't forgive and lash out in response, then I haven't changed anything." Those simple words of forgiveness and peace showed me more manliness than anything I've ever seen. This guy's baby niece got shot, and he swallowed the rage and forgave. How can we not do the same in surfing, which is supposed to be an enjoyable diversion?
the bra boys are from Australia and the hui from Hawaii. I agree totally. I definatlly would not have fled. Then again he wouldnt have pushed me down and i wouldnt be the one marked up.
Karma is a ***** isnt it Flores LOL http://www.aspworldtour.com/2011/02...red-withdraws-from-quiksilver-pro-gold-coast/
The HAW surf contingent are bullies, cut & dried. Guys like Garcia & that complete jackass Kala Alexander are just drug-dealing hypocrites. 'Thugs' is the common term these days. Eddie Rothman is the most powerful person on the North Shore. Why? Because he is the biggest meth dealer on the island, he has locals, cops & judges in his pocket through bribes, fear or aggressive & violent intimidation. The feds don't touch him because in the big picture he's a small island fish & because the locals won't testify against his SoCal haole arse. Hawaiians talk incessantly about respect & props. They just never give it. This is because what they're really talking about is greed (all waves for only Hawaiians), money (from drug sales to locals & haoles), and power (over local pols).
Believe me I have a life but thanks for being so concerned. I have done more stuff by 10am than you have done all day . I think it real conveinent that Flores is not out with a injury after being asked to sit out the event
matt, i agree. I smell bullsh!t too. Looks like to save face (and more importantly sponsors) someone gave him an option to fake an injury or face the humiliation of being kicked off the tour.
i don't understand why there is so much violence in surfing, i really am just at a loss why people feel it necessary to fight people over a wave. during the summer when the schlocals (summer locals) and tourists are out i get snaked all the time. i get angry and if it happens more than once i explain to the people what they are doing, but i would never beat the **** out of him for it. its a wave, there are more to come no matter how epic the day is.
you don't know me, you can sit there and say you do more by 10am then me shows what a moron you are. second is a guy who surfs for a living who shares the same passion we all share is possibly injured and your amping on that. your pathetic.
Before we go attacking each other, we must understand that what Matt said is actually correct. Here is a quote from Flores on Feb 22nd, 2011, proving that he was not hurt at all and never was injured at all. This was a media ploy/propoganda to avoid bad exposure for Flores.... Flores was asked to step away from the event by the ASP. He lied to the media. He had no injury... Here is the quote: "Any parents would of done the same thing if their son were in trouble. Anyway, the ASP decided to take me out of the event because a new rule says that no violence should be tolerated in a professional event,i agree with that rule 100% but it wasn’t the case for me,i just defended myself while i was training in the contest area before my heat." Jeremy Flores, Feb, 22, 2011. If this was baseball, Flores would be asked to speak in front of congress for lying.
If this was baseball, Flores would be asked to speak in front of congress for lying. i agree with you zach, what happened to baseball? if any1 breaks a record they have to test for roids and speak in front of congress. sucks nothing is legit these days unless u pass hundreds of test.
Flores isn't an american, why would he have to speak in front of congress & The incident occurred in Australia. And did you really just compare surfing to baseball? ITs funny how Flores spot went to another Frenchman
=) I meant that figuratively. Since surfing and rugby are the Aussie's national past-times, I was just saying that I'm surprised they don't treat situations like the Flores/Garcia incident more directly the way they do in the states. That was very kind of the media to let him bow out gracefully with a fake injury. Since he admitted that removed from the event, you would think that the aussie media would just pitch it that way. Truthfully. In the states, he would have been put on front street and the media would have been all over it. He got a nice free pass there. I bet you his sponsors still have to pay him out some how because of that. It was an "Injury" not a "violation" or "DQ"... But who knows.
From Surfline's article: "According to a local paper, the incident is said to have all started when Adam Clarke exchanged words with Stone Garcia following an interference on a wave. A good family friend of the Garcias, Flores intervened and told Clarke he could have problems if he continued to assault Stone. " http://www.surfline.com/surf-news/garcia-flores-disqualified-from-aussie-wqs-event_52817/ So this is probably how it played out: -Garcia's son drops in on the local (Adam Clarke) -Local calls him out -Jeremy Flores and Sunny Garcia respond in a violent flurry of punches and underwater throttling -Sunny continues on his storm of violence and anger, and assaults an innocent camera man, leaving him marked with bloody gashes and scars
You dont know me either so for you to say I need to get a life other than Swell info makes you a the moron! Yeah I am on here more than most but I have reason to be (keep spamers out and make sure thread and post are in good taste). If u have to know since u are so worried about me being on swell info so much I am on here roughly 2 hours a day give or take on how busy it is here. When i am not here I am either working a my 50 hour plus a week job , Spending time with my family and firends and Surfing when there is Swell. And I really doubt that he is injured for real . I just seem "funny" how is he is asked to sit out the last event for his actions and now all of a sudden he is hurt and has to sit out more event . Just seems funny to me and I bet a cpl others here see it that way too. It also seemed than most of us were right from what Zach posted on how the ASP asked him to sit out and and used a fake injury to keep things hush hush Dont get me wrong if his injury is legit then I hope for a speedy reocovery and hope that he can think thing threw a little better so he dont have repercusions for his actions.
