whats realistic as far as visibility in the morning? sunrise is at 7:14 but i have to be out of the water by then. I want to get at least 45 minutes in the am otherwise its not worth it.

30-45 minutes before sunrise should be good... Sunsets around 4:30, and I know up until a little after 5 pm it's fine outside, so a little over 30 minutes before sunrise in the morning should be good.

You can see fairly well a half hour before sunrise. Prior to that, it's difficult. But the good thing is, it's getting lighter, not darker, so every minute that goes by it gets better. I check the surf at 6:15 and lately it's DARK. Like...nighttime dark. I'd consider "first light" to be at the time of what's known as "nautical twilight," which is when you can clearly see the horizon. So I'd say 45 minutes of surf time is stretching it. Close... but a stretch... at least for the next several weeks.

BTW... an hour is what I consider "worth it" in the dead of winter.
