Kyle, no doubt Saints/Pats would have been higher scoring. Brees > Goff & LA D-line > NO D-line. Both QB's were not comfortable in the pocket. Goff benefits from play action (as do all QBs), hitting big chunk plays. NE took away the running game and the long passes, and made LA put together long drives. LA was doing a similar tactic, however, NE knows well the "death by a 1000 cuts" game, and was very patient.
Yeah I would have liked to see the Saints in it too. When they're hitting on all cylinders they're unstoppable. But they inexplicably don't bring their A game on occasion, and it rarely seems to be Brees screwing up. Kinda the same issue as Green Bay, but usually that's on Rodgers being below par. Having the Saints in Atlanta for a SB would've gone over great too
Well, wait a minute now!! Speaking as SIs token grumpy dick, rest assured...I like bikini adds, and I don't care what they sell, doritos, fords, trojans...who cares?? It's bikinis!!!!
Looks like the Iggles are all the way in up to the balls with Big Dick Nick to the tune of a $20 million option. For a backup QB. Phew.
That happens when you get sacked 4 times and hurried 12. Best defensive effort I've ever seen from the Pats, in any game. Glad Edelman got the MVP, that dude is all in.
He's going to buy himself out for 2 million. I see him going to the Jags or, god forbid, the Redskins. If Wentz goes down, or should I say when, the Bird's QB will be Nate Sudfeld.
I don't know why they don't just pay Nick Foles and trade Wentz or just make him the back up. Wentz is a good quarterback but he hasn't proven he can stay healthy and Nick has won the most meaningful games for the Eagles last few years. Foles has proven to be far more reliable. I would think they would just pay the man.
I know. They have one more year to keep Wentz on his rookie deal, then they will have to pay him or trade him. When healthy, he has shown that he can be one of the top 5 QBs in the NFL. Health is the issue. Foles did what no one else could- helped the Eagles win a SB. But I've also seen the bad Foles where he looks utterly lost. He's not that much older than Wentz, it's not like he's over the hill or anything. Interesting decision the Eagles have to make. It will shape their franchise for the next decade.
Don't disagree with you on the effort from the Pats, but sacks aren't always because of the defense. Goff had happy feet and was triple tapping the ball all night before letting it fly. That pass in the 4th quarter with Cooks wide open in the back of the end zone, all on him for holding the ball too long which he did all night. That was an obvious blown coverage that he took too long to see. Brady makes that throw. The Rams didn't give Brady many chances but he hurt them when they did. The Pats gave Goff more chances, he just didn't capitalize on them imho. Pats D shook him early and he never recovered.
Spot on ^^^ Didn't want to burst anyone's bubble, but you're right about Foles being maddeningly inconsistent. Maybe that has something to do with playing for Jeff Fisher the Quarterback Killer. I don't know. Maybe he's just more comfortable in a particular style of offense. He just needs to find a groove and stay in it. Otherwise, he's Kirk Cousins.
Since being back in Philly the last two years, Foles has gone 6-2 as a starter in the regular season, and he has gone 4-1 in the playoffs, his touchdown to interception ratio is 12/6 and he has completed 67% of his passes. Last year his QB rating was 96. I would take him in Oakland, just sayin.
Goff had some superbowl jitters to be sure. The Pats did their part to make sure he never got comfortable.
I don't follow this stuff heavily. But im pretty sure foles doesn't want to be a starter. I know it sounds crazy. But i swear i heard or saw an interview with him after last year's game. They were asking him where he wanted to go since he was now a SB winning QB. Je basically said he'd rather play the back up role.
I'd go with the guy who won you a super bowl and was the bowl MVP, no question. If you can perform on that stage, yer in. It's not that unlike when Drew Bledsoe got injured, and an unknown kid named Brady took over.
Super Bowl is OVER, boys. Stop being infatuated with football players--that makes all of you sound very effeminate!!
