Glad you are back your SB, one less SUPer. ;) In all seriousness, it would be much better if everyone was like you on those things. I guess it does come down to everyone being more assertive in a non-confrontational way.

I haven't had many issues with being snaked or dropped in on. If your on a sup don't fool yourself that you are just another surfer in the line up. The looming nature of someone standing 10 -15 feet from you is irritating and distracting and takes away from the experience for everyone out there. The sound of that hull coming up behind you gets me everytime and I'm learning to hate it. Surfers move around and change position but it takes real effort to do it. The stand up guys are always wandering and moving from peak to peak. They never sit still and relax. Ill say it again this is not a problem with snaking etc, it's the constant motion and visual distraction that I find most annoying. At the very least sit down once in a while to give us all a break if you insist on going out where there are surfers.

Thanks dude, me too, that was the whole goal in the first place, to get myself back into short board shape and surf better than I did when I was in my teens / 20's, and I've done that. SUP's can be great for your fitness and your surfing, if used correctly. I had blown up to a fat 205lbs (I'm 5'9") when I wasn't surfing regularly due to injury and drinking all the beer in Tampa Bay, now I'm down to 170lbs and possibly the best shape of my life (minus playing football), and that 12' plank is what got me back to riding waves with regularity and re-ignited my stoke to the point where I'm now catching just as many waves on a short board as I do standing up. Funny how things work out.

Great point regarding changing position constantly, definitely best to chill in one area and not be "that guy" that likes weaving in and out of people from peak to peak. What I like to do is catch a few then take a knee or pop a squat for a few while I catch my breath, give my legs a break, and allow others to partake, I can get any wave I want on that thing, so no need to be greedy.

I have no problems with a competent SUPer in the lineup. I think it just boils down to whether or not you're acting like a kook; and a kook on a giant SUP is even more annoying and dangerous in a lineup than a kook on a surfboard. Don't hog everything from way outside, don't catch waves you can't ride, and definitely don't snake.

I think the problem is that it's an attractive way to surf for someone who's never done it since you don't have to learn how to pop up...and they don't realize that actually surfing on one, or even paddling one isn't exactly easy. So you just tend to see a lot of kooks riding them in places they shouldn't be.

I think all y'all should stop shortboarding, sponging, longboarding, SUP'ing...........

Kneeboarders, if there's any of you left, you guys are cool.....

Bowling, rock climbing, and cycling are so much better. Surfing is a waste of time. Crabs, lobsters, urchins, jellyfish, flounder, rockfish(that's for you, Erock, we call 'em strippers or stripers)............man, it's just not worth it. Humans don't belong out there.

I wonder who bluefish dislike the most? Do dolphins like shortboarders? Do you guys think they have board biases? I wonder..........

    Yeah, what's with that?

Those SUP dudes NEVER stay in one general area. They're over there..........

    Then they're over here.....

    Then they're over there........

Their adderral script must have run out or something. Like, some ADHD going on there or something. Those dudes never stay put. I like when they make their "line-up" 10 yards directly infront of you. I mean, like, right infront of you, and there's no one within 20-30 yards of you.

    People baffle me.

It should take you no more than 30 seconds of watching to realize if a SUPer is someone who knows what he is doing or if he doesn't.

^ Very annoying. Especially if, as a surfer, you managed to position yourself to a fun peak... then SUP guy sees you catching waves and then paddles to your area from half a mile away. You all know that feeling, and you have about a 2-3 minute window to relish and enjoy whatever waves that are left as the SUP guy hauls ass and gets ready to sit right on top of you.

annoys me when some SUPers out here on the west coast think they can trunk it in 55 degree water. What ends up happening is they get cold real quick and start spazzing out, trying to catch whatever they can, as fast as they can, no matter what.

Some SUP old lady in a bikini almost ran into me day before yesterday, going right on what was clearly a left I had already started paddling for way before her...she was friggin' shivering for god sakes.

This is true, but it's also true that it happens the other way around too. Many times I've been on my own peak minding my own business well away from the pack, and said pack members see a dude on a SUP (me) killing it and wouldn't you know it, within a few minutes I'm surrounded. Then to make matters worse, those same dudes that came over to snake the peak then expect the SUP'er to leave or stop catching waves, hell, they might even go so far as to try and block for each other which is crazy considering the SUP'er that was there 1st and was alone before then. D*cks are always going to find a reason to hate on others for whatever reason...
