I don't really agree with this. If you're not actively pushing yourself, you'll never get better. I mean, yea, don't just want to get better for the sake of getting better so you can say you're better. But progressing is fun. Just don't take it too seriously. I recently caught my second major wind of progression and I've never had more fun surfing than I am currently.
Idk how I made it through my first year of surfing without quitting or getting like forcefully thrown put of the water. I was a mess looking back on it.
You don't have to put any time constraints on yourself to still be pushing yourself. I think that's the main point in question. Getting acquainted with your body and your watercraft isn't something you can achieve in two weeks or two months. Unless you're like some of the pros on here that were born with a 6' something "stick" up their a$$. So.. If you're looking to frustrate yourself - go ahead. If you're looking to enjoy surfing in its primal form and design - relax and let it come naturally, you're not getting paid for it. Move WITH the water. P.S. Don't forget to bring a towel!
