Hi! I'm pretty new to the surf scene up here and would love some info on surf spots! Straights? Been to Westport, been skunked as many times as it's been good. Curious about Neah Bay and LA Push... Any opinions one way or another? Looking for a fairly mellow longboard break. Also have a thick ass short board a co worker gave to me... never tried it. But I'm game for anything. I'm a big fan of the surf buddy system, and would love to share some coffee, gas money, waves, wax... Spent 9 hours Saturday driving around the peninsula in search of... well... ANYTHING rideable. Totally got skunked. Solo trip - too quiet. Would have been cool to have some people along to hike around or something for lack of waves. Bummer... Anyway, I just shaped my first board this summer and spent 2 months roaming the coast from Santa Cruz, CA to Newport, OR chasing waves. Now that this awesome winter season is upon us, hopefully there are some crazy like minded individuals that can't wet to throw on a wet suit and get in the frigid water!! I live in South Seattle... so if you're near the Seattle area and the surfs up... let's go! I'm new to this whole forum thing... so I guess I will check back to see if anyone is up for a road trip? Thanks for reading... see ya out there!
I'm all too familiar with long, lonely drives to nothing. Such is life being a surfer in these parts. But it's totally worth it on those days when you hit it just right. I mostly head to the Strait in the fall, and usually fly solo as it starts to get colder. The Strait is real fickle, so you gotta hit it when all the conditions are perfect. I've got the numbers figured out for the most part, but still end up getting skunked every once in awhile. So yeah, it might be nice to have some company and split some gas, ferry tolls, etc. I live in Seattle so send me a PM and maybe we can arrange a trip sometime soon.
