'Waves' detected on Titan moon’s lakes The signature of isolated ripples was observed in a sea called Punga Mare on the surface of Saturn's moon Titan. However, these seas are filled not with water, but with hydrocarbons like methane and ethane. These exist in their liquid state on Titan, where the surface temperature averages about -180C.
Hmm wonder what the energy put out by a 3-4ft wave is when it's liquid methane vs. water. And what effect would the lesser gravity have on the wave. Brew - git yer slidey rule out man, we gots to do some figurin' to find out what kinda board we're gonna need for this space surfing trip. At least now there will be 25,000 threads on best spot/suit/board/where to stay/etc. on Titan instead of CR/PR/Nica.
Hey man if we humans play the cards right it's feasible to assume that we could worn hole ourselves to earth like planets that are untouched and have un crowded perfect point breaks going off right now. There could be amazing surf in the cosmos and it's most likely really nice in lots of places. The only way that's gonna happen if humans can persist a few hundred years more and create a utopia here first without socialism tho
Surfing on Ethane and Methane? Don't make a spark, unless of course the highly likely condition of said moon involves no oxygen. Upon which you could drink the mix as you surf, and catch a healthy buzz while farting your way down the line. Just warm it up a little before you drink though....gotta work out the logistics on that one, lest you freeze your innards to crumbly crystals instantaneously. On second thought, you can have about 73% of the above experience on a winter day of surfing in LBI with an oversized Qdoba breakfast bean burrito, chest high medium period SE swell, and a pint of Jim Beam. Utopia is up to you....all in the perception, friends.
IDK I have kinda a creepy feeling that the wetsuit companies read that and are right now acting on it… difstoke/difbloke/dif mon/ difstond/dif egg/dif yolk/dif chemical element/dif apparel…..
