If his life had gone down hill afterward, I bet his decision would be different. Personally, knowing I would come back limbless, would not have paddled out.
Nothing in this world is worth giving a limb for unless it's to save your child's or closest loved ones life, which most likely that will never be a choice you have to make.
I know I would not... But he's made a decant career for himself since the attack. I bet he would not have done as well if his situation was different
I couldn't sacrifice a limb. Toes or fingers though??? No problem. Just take the pinky fingers/toes, they don't do much anyway.
An old guy at work cut off his finger a long time ago by accident, I think using a skill saw or something to that effect. He does fine without it, types a little slower though lol
You'd be surprised. The little toe affects balance like no other, it would severely compromise your surfing losing that little guy
If you think about it, we sacrifice life and limb everyday as soon as we crawl out of the sack in the mornin. Or paddle out into knee high for that matter. Hell... just try to get yourself, to and from work on I-95. You'll be giving thanks and praise upon your arrival!
