Haha. Glad someone else was also expecting this to turn into a request for personal identification and routing numbers.

    dawnpatrol that was awesome lol.

mr Africa,I didn't know u guys had internet let alone electricity in that part of the world,w Africa.how did u find yourself coming to a forum based out of northeast America?u speak good English aswell.are u a real African or or an American who decided to make a surf camp in Africa?its not a bad idea people pay large amounts to get driven around to surf epic waves in 3rd world countries.its a good option but not too many people want to go to Africa.I know theres got to thousands of undiscovered perfect waves in that region.i wouldn't worry about the ebola either,Africa is a big place

Welcome AfricanSurfer!! I wish you all the best of luck in getting a bunch of surfers to agree on anything but I for one think you've made a good start in creating a "rules to surf by" list. What is this list to be used for?

    Hey Yankee
Lodging western style with toilet, shower, running water, power and internet is pretty expensive here in Senegal. As you also see on my prices.
You can also live low life style, but then you will not be sure to have all the above mentioned. The you can get a room for 10 USD per day. We are at the end of the Sahara dessert, so nothing grows and water is precious. Morocco is the cheap "semi African" solution it's much cheaper, but then you will also have to share the good waves with 40 others.

    Thanks Metard

Guess it's also due to over crowded spots and a couple of ....... can destroy any kind of lineup. We are at least so lucky to have few people in the water. So still super fun to be sharing waves with locals and tourists.

Yes, the video is taken at NGor right the same wave as them surfed in the first Endlesssummer movie

One more movie here from NGor right and left

    Thanks BBG
First I was curious to see it this was a serious forum or just people spamming and giving people .....
I have the list on my homepage and quite a lot of my guests vising the surfcamp read them, so far load of positive responds. From beginners and also the more experienced surfers. As I have quite a lot of people reading the surf rules I wanted to update, improve the list.
The surf rules are translated into 6 different languages, so it's easier for people to understand.
So first I'll update the english version and do all the translations.

More needs to be written in the Rips section. Rips are a very serious issue around here and on the news daily. If you find yourself in an East Coast rip you will be dead in seconds.

I am Danish and discovered this place 8 year ago and choose to go here to start up a surf camp.
By now most of the waves on the West African coast line has been discovered, as there is surfers living all along the coast line. Morocco is catching all the north swells from the Atlantic, making it perfect as they have loads of good points and off shore wind most of the winter. Dakar is the next place picking up north swells and the good thing here is that we also get the south swell with long periods, so we have consistent waves all year around. Then there is Liberia and Ivory coast picking up the south swell as well, that's pretty much it along the coast line here. All the other countries around only have beach breaks that gets max. waist high.

We live next to Dakar witch is pretty developed, with modern shopping centers aso. ASDL 3G 4G internet, stabile power. On the little island where we live there is no power though, but with solar, wind and a generator that's all solved. Best of all 20 nice point breaks within 10 minutes by boat:)

Some Europeans are coming here to surf as most Europeans are use to travel. Even 27 percent of the visitors on my homepage are from the US I have less than 10 US guests per year. As I understand from forums and talking to people, Americans are very scared of coming here.
    Some of the reasons:
    1. It's a Muslim country = they are all terrorists:)
    2. It¨s very dangerous to be here!!! Last year 4 murders where registered in Dakar (city with 3 million people) If you look at statistics it's much more safe than anywhere in the US. You can walk around the slum at night, no one will approach you and you are totally safe.
    3. You get Ebola!!! No Ebola in Senegal
Guess most people also don't have the desire to travel and explore other cultures. So that might also just be an excuses to stay at home:)

Good point!! Here it's the same, for me the beach breaks are so much more dangerous than the reefs. As a beach break can be very unpredictable. This summer more than 1000 people died at the beaches around Dakar, mainly because the Senegalese are pretty bad at swimming. So even the most light rip is deadly.

your rules sounded just fine. in america there is a saying called 'kiss' which means "keep it simple stupid".
the kiss rule goes well with surfing.

First of all thanks for all the feedback. Now I have something to start working with:)

More on rips: What to watch out for, how to act aso.

The hold and through part: Hold on ... Hold on... oh man that's the worst being behind someone just letting go their board.

    More suggestions???

We don't need an alcohol rule for surfing.

    Not one tiny little bit.
