^^^^^^^^^^This. I can't tell you how many times I've heard some tool say "if I had that les paul/strat/ or whatever I know I could play. Like somehow the guitar would magically make them play well. Barry gave ya solid advise if you're going to PR. BB, All I've ever wanted to do was play guitar and surf. Will you adopt me?
learner go for it and have fun Recommendation on CR has merit. Have only been to PR twice but would say a lot of the breaks do not favor a beginner in combination with the bottom conditions. Surfers Beach may be the best option and contact Mar Azul (something like that for lessons). If you really want to make some progress you need to go to the Pacific where can get more than a 3 second ride. CR has merit and Nosara or Tamarindo or even Mapais are options but cant say I ever hit it that good. If you are really serious head to Southern Cal - San Onofre and camp out for a month until you get it right - forget the lessons just get out there. Have fun. Aloha
Try Roger at 787, he is an awesome guide and instructor. He is in Rincon and has a villa there as well. He can do exactly what you are seeking. Tell him RJ sent you. www.Surf787.com [email protected]

Dude shreds pretty hard for a kook. Seen him tear up DOH+ Dogman's looking just as relaxed as stomach high.
And that is because Dogmans is an easy and lame wave. Go try and pull the wool over the eyes of people that do not know the break. I lived there for 18 years. PR now sucks; most likely because those like you are going there.
Get ahold of Rincon Surf School, which just launched Rincon Surf Resort - looks like they bought a hotel. Legit and longstanding school and they know their stuff and now have rooms, etc. Professional outfit and offer what your looking for.
