Looks like we could get a pretty solid dose of ENE swell Sunday/Monday. with NNW winds. I'm new to the area and am not used to surfing in cold, water is still 65 in my area. Air temp is supposed to be 45 in the morning. Will i need bootys, gloves, and a hood? or could i get away with just a hood and my 4/3?
Just to throw another option in the mix...last week Delmarva same deal...cold morning, 65 water, chilly NW wind. I wore a 3/2, no boots or gloves (obviously) but a bonnet hood. I swear ever since I had ear surgery, I hate surfing in a cool wind with no ear protection. Felt great by the way
Squid lid! A must have. Stuff it in the chest area before you paddle out... you can use it or have extra padding.
I've got one of those hoods. Great way to spend $20. Good idea stuffing it in the chest too. Looks like some clean swell of fair size could be here on Monday now. That's pleasing. All could change but let's fire up dat train...
yup...as my ears go farther & farther down the toilet, spiraling slowly toward surgery, i find myself wearing a lid more & more frequently when it's windy &/or chilly. last time it was like that & i didn't wear the lid, it took a solid 2 days for my ears to clear up so i could hear again.
Looking at DE forecast on SI, winds Sat afternoon - 37/40 mph. forecast on the Weather Channel - winds Sat afternoon - 22 mph. Big difference
It should be interesting to see what the winds do. If they are nw on Sunday and actually solid swell in the water. I so probably trek down to assateague take advantage of some long lefts and near off shore winds
too late. i'm loading all my guido buddies into my bright yellow H2 & heading down there for this swell.
Dude it's only wednesday there will be waves this weekend! Stay positive dudeski...always stay positive!
