It seems that the majority of surf videos have been trashed with terrible music. I'm not sure how electric/pop/emo music finds it's way into surf videos. Fuel TV loves to let these homeless looking musicians play on stage. Hard to get excited over a video with musicians wearing TOMS, and rags. Anyone else feel this way? If so, what music do you prefer in a video?

    It's basically new-age hippie music

rap or rap related music more often than not kills a good surf vid.

Rap is terrible as well. Should have listed that as a number 1

Agreed on the rap/electronic, I prefer thrashy punk in a good vid.

Bad music ruins a video. Good rap and good rock make a video awesome.

I heard Beck the other day and really liked it. Don't like rap on surf vids either.

Not too familiar w/ his later stuff, but love One Foot in the Grave and Mellow Gold.

Every thing starts to annoy me if there is too much of it. More variety is a good thing. We've all seen and heard a million videos cut to hardcore/punk, reggae, surf guitar, and now emo/indie. Rap is kind of a fresh take but could see it turning cliche quick.

I really like the music that goes with the winter segment in Dark Fall. Sounds like it was scored to picture rather than a licensed track. Made it feel more "cinematic" that way. Also liked hearing Philip Glass on a surf vid I just saw on youtube. Like how this music works here too (though it's probably close to what the OP was complaining about):

Oh, and I googled "TOMS+hipster" and discovered that they are shoes.
