Maybe its just me.. but g shocks are way over rated and seen on everybody .. its like a new trend or something. Dont be part of the trend.. trends are for homessss
it is around the 200$ mark. But the rip curl ventura with the p/u band is by far the best tide watch as far as accuracy/durability goes. nixons are great but they tend to fall apart. the ventura doesnt look goony either its just a solid watch that isnt too heavy and has all the features you need. get one you wont be disapointed.
Haaaaaaaaaa!! Don't listen to him i never liked the freestyles, but they are probably tougher than ripcurls, which i own with the stainless steel band. Its my third ripcurl in 15 years. Nixon are waaay overpriced. Casio makes a tide watch and they look pretty good.
+1 on the rip curl ventura. i got that for my gf's father for xmas & he loves it (boater/fisherman, not a surfer) & i wear the shipstern (slightly higher end...solid metal casing, pu band...otherwise the same thing) for everything...surf, sail, paddleboard, in the classroom, workouts, snowboard, hell, i even wore it chaperoning my school's prom last weekend! rip curl builds some solid watches that are aesthetically pleasing as well.
i have 3 nixon watches. cant say enough, highly recommended. g shocks are lame. everyone rocks them. low down is not too expensive has a decent structure and holds up well.
http://www.gshock.com/products/index.php?id=7079C203-CE80-4578-A6D5-962C684AED08 can't go wrong there, dude. theyre popular because theyre great watches and im sure many people on here will testify to that. i love mine... great tide keeping and time is always spot on (some watches have tides and moon but keep ****ty time). and it has moon phase. with all that and being shock proof and water proof i don't see any reason not to get this. black on black, cant go wrong with that, it never will go out of style or look bad. the only other watch id consider getting is the nixon housing.
AGREED!!!! I've had mine for around the same amount of time. Only needed to replace the battery once and the band twice. Keeps on ticking and its analog which is great for tide adjustments on the fly on vaca. The quality is second to none, couldn't suggest a better watch plus its nice and styley/professional unlike the ugly G Shock.
dont go cheap , i surf in a Rolex and its the only watch i need it will last the rest of my life , you buy cheap things its just gonna break down an need to be replaced, you can get a decent used rolex for 2500 bucks
I am in the market for a watch also, and its for when ia m surfing. Two kids and a bunch of stuff to do on a daily basis getting out of the water in time to be a a family function is unfortuantely a necessity. The tide function is also what I am looking for. I saw a review with the Nixon Lodown and the timer and wave counter thing looks great for long sessions where you can time sets. Anyway personally I will be going for whatever tide watch fits my skinny wrist best under $150. The Vestal Brig is also a decent looking tide watch but havent seen it up close so.............
