I have a question about surfboard travel on the NJTransit. I can't drive yet so I have to take the NJTransit to my friends surf break. I don't know if surfboards are allowed on the train? If anybody knows, please let me know ASAP. Thanks
check the detailed rules though. A lot of coastal cities have board size restrictions and even time restrictions. Nothing over 6 feet on the west coast. From the stories other guys are posting on here of suiting up on the train, stripping down under board walks, I assume it's okay, but I would make a phone call before showing up board in hand and getting sent away.
I've never taken them on the train personally, but I've sold boards to guys from NY and they never had a problem getting them back home on the train.
NJT has no restrictions on boards. If you can fit it, your good. (most any board stows nicely on the upper luggage racks) Avoid peak times, it gets packed like a sardine can and gen-pop will inevitably show disdain and their general douchy ways in many forms. Had to poke a guy in throat once after he threatened to put his umbrella through my board if I didnt "move it". Well worth the aggrevation and a nice adrenaline boost before the sesh.... I go from Bayhead to LB and all in between on the reg. Used to take my sponge on the train to NYC and then the A train to the Rockaways all the time too....
u should be good I used to do it when I was a teen.aslong as ur not bringing a longboard or sup its ok.i brought a 6'8 gun oneday and they told me not to bring it again, but a 6'4 and under is ok
