People are NOT generally liked or disliked for being a "jerk" or a good person. Look at how women pick their dates. It's all initial feeling and emotion. Nice guys come in last for a reason. That's even how guys pick their friends. Do you remember HS. Remember the coolest guys in school? Were they the nicest with best manners? HMMMMM?? Ever meet someone and you want them to really like you badly? You know nothing about them. It's instant. Ever meet a salesman and you feel instantly comfortable with them and they seem like a good guy even though you nothing about them? That's friend chemistry. There's also dating chemistry. It's all about superficial instant attraction

Oh and can we not get into that lunatic who shot up a ca neighborhood please. There have been plenty of sociopathic killers that got laid like crazy. Just look at the hillside stranglers. If every loser with women shot up places, it would be happening every minute of everyday since a TON of guys have trouble.

Plenty of times I disagree with MIS or Chich. They call me a sheep sheep or Cop lover and I call them tree hugging pu$$ies. But it ends there. I don't dislike them outside of that conversation...

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I totally agree. I can accept someone having a different opinion.(within reason. If they say think Hitler is great I'm not going to like them). Many of the people on here and many other forums can NOT handle someone with a different opinion. They resort to name calling and bully tactics. Look at the history and see who started the attacks and snide smart ass remarks first.
Like minded people tend to congregate. Family is about the only thing that can bypass that. That's why you avoid talking politics at family gatherings.

One of the first things you learn in sales is how to build a rapport with someone. You create a "connection". You find common interests and agree on things. If you're trying to sell a Christian something then it's not a good idea to tell them you're an atheist. If you got rush limbaugh listener then it's not a good idea to talk about how great Obama is. If the prospect is a Yankee's fan then you lie and say you're a Yankee's fan and then tell him a fake story about how you went to your first yankee's game. This is called manipulation. It's a seduction. It's basically what sales is about if you want to be a closer. Of course you have to have that immediate chemistry with people as well. Some people just have it.

 

Actually studies show that "relationship" closer's are the least successful salespeople.
I'm in sales and a lot of my customers are Orthodox Jews... They know I'm catholic/atheist and could care less... I's about providing value above anything else.

Truth there. Man theres just nothing more irritating than a salesman trying to "connect" with you. "Hey I see you've got surfboard racks on your car...are you a surfer? I don't get out as much as I used to but man I used to call ___ my home break and never missed a swell!"

 

Guys, I'm new here and I just read a little in this thread, but you guys need to calm down and stop being so hateful and violent.

I'm a little ashamed about the behavior on this site as this site is a reflection of us all. Everytime we post on this site we are representing surfers throughout the world.

We have a responsibility to project a good image. There could be youngsters from Des Moines, Iowa on here thinking about moving to New Smyrna Beach. We can't ruin the dreams of the youth.
