Oh I know what the "old fashioned" south was like (and still is in a few deep spots) you however are the one that brought up race. Ever watch an old cowboy movie? They lynched the bad guys who were 99% of the time white. The KKK altered our understanding of the term lynching to mean violence against one race. The term dates back to the 1400's so go educate yourself before you get to 8th grade American History class next fall Jr.

Wow. Can't we all just get along. Life is too short for all of these hangups. I surf in SC and utilize a SUP, a fish or whatever the break calls for. The bottom line is I use the right tool for the job and respect all those that I am in the lineup with. Just enjoy the scene and don't pass judgment on those that aren't on your bandwagon.

Yep that was the whole point of this thread until Shark Cum Liker decided to turn it into another war. Like I said in the opening post and csawkid pointed out here is that the right board for the right wave is the way to have the most fun. Who cares what others are riding as long as you are having fun!

It isn't about whether you can catch the wave, but what the quality of ride is. Sure, I can catch anything with a LB that they can catch, but they will catch it way before I will. That gives them a much longer ride, which is pretty important in an area that often sees 1ft@5sec. I guess I just don't see where the hate comes from. If someone is polite and knows how to make the best of the wave, I don't care what they are riding. I think the problem is that you guys surf the wrong areas with the wrong people, and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I see two types of SUP guys around my break. One type is the older noob that really just paddles out and falls every 5 min. They don't bother me because they never go for waves. The other type is the long time seasoned surfer, who knows the rules and can actually maneuver the board on a wave. I have never been cut off, hit, or crowded by an SUP surfer. Now short boarders, they seem to range from polite to total aggro asshole.
