The surgery kept getting rescheduled, but to be honest it probably wouldn't have made a difference. My bort tragically lost its fight with delam aids last weekend... suggesting that it was far more advanced than I had initially expected. Snapped in half last Saturday in semi-mushy waist to shoulder high onshore slop while my brother in law was paddling it back out after a ride and got caught inside. Not the most dignified way to go, but at least technically it was hurricane groundswell, which is a little more respectable than summer wind chop. 14 years not a bad life for a poly longbort that was my only bort for most of that time, and thus got ridden (albeit not always well) in lots of well-overhead hollow winter surf that could've easily killed it.
