Another heroic rescue by a surfer in Melbourne Beach Florida, proving once again that not all surfers are bums or self centered jerks:

I wondered if DPSUP was near this action. I know he performed an amazing feat of courage this past year at a nearby beach.

Northerners: note that the guys are in bort shorts, no neoprene.
Valhalla: pop quiz: are those this seasons or last seasons bort shorts?

Good stuff Betty, thank you for sharing. Sometimes I think I take being a stronger swimmer for granted because I see things Ike this and I think, those waves aren't bad. But then again, I'm not from Kentucky.

Ps. I think Frosty is your fashion expert. Ha

Wow....the surfer paddled out a WHOLE 70-80 feet, the story says.
A WHOLE 70-80 feet?? Imagine!! What a feat of strength and stamina!!
He paddled 10 surfboard lengths!! Double digits!!!!!!
    How exhausting!!!!!!!!

o barry, I was thinking the same thing. 70-80 feet doesn't seem all that remarkable. I suspect people can't judge distance very well in those circumstances. To the person struggling it probably seems like they're a thousand feet out though.

I bet they meant yards. It just does not make sense that it would be feet.
