first of all, all the guys in that "reasons to kite" video are surfers, first, and kite-boarders, second. Kite-boarding is plan "B". And I doubt they go around supposedly heckling surfers and then coming up with lame excuses why they don't take up beach fight offers.

Never been interested in kite-boarding. Too much equipment and it has it's own limits: barrels are short and weird because of bar/ropes, aerials are fake-looking, etc.

Other thing is I have pretty major acrophobia, especially when hanging by ropes (parasailed once and hated every second of it)...or, even worse, only my hands grasping a bar. I've seen several instances where kite-boarders were caught in updrafts and lifted miles up in the sky (sounds like something the OP deserves).

when it's too windy at the beach, there are plenty of other things I'd rather do than simultaneously flying a kite and trying to "surf" at the same time: skimboard, bodysurf, OG windsurfer, sailboat, SUP, skateboard, etc.

Its great that you are a talented kite surfer. Its unfortunate that you are an attention seeking showboat that puts other people in danger to demonstrate your skill. Errors happen. Put yourself in the Dad's shoes for just a moment and his actions are understandable.

Your superiority complex, and large ego are clear indication of your massive insecurity.

wouldn't it be better to kite surf in the bay? Kudos to you for going out of your way to hassle a dad in front of his child btw. Yes VB is crowded, yes there is no etiquette, yes there are attitudes and semi-pros, yes the waves blow; get over it.

pretty sure this guy is trolling.....

anyways if you were a real kitesurfer you would realize that the best thing about a kite is it allows you to surf spots that surfers cant.

Have you ever sat on the beach or been on a boat and seen a perfect wave way off in the distance or in the middle of an inlet or an outside sandbar too far or dangerous to paddle?

The kite allows you to really find the best waves on your island, not just the beach break sandbars. Ive found more secret spots kiting in 5 years than i have in my entire life of surfing.

That type of arrogance doesn't fly where I kite and surf. Most kiters are older guys that switched after windsurfing died as a sport and aren't afraid to tell a cocky newcomer to pack sand and never come back.

Anyways....... check out this clip of the last good kiteswell

Like a gnarly wave my brother-in-law discovered in the KEYS, of all places. A serious wave when the conditions are right, but totally inaccessible except by boat or kite.

But really... I disagree, too... it's ONE of the best things about kitesurfing over surfing. The other is speed and power.

The down side is... forget deep tubes.

nailed it, although I can count the days my beach has actual deep barreling waves on 1 hand so your not missing out on much.

Ill take the ability to smash 500 lips in 1 session 50 times a year over the ability to get a "deep barrel" on a waist to head high wave 1 time a year
