I think I can help I am a bodyboarder. I got this nice video camera and I don't get that many good videos. If I get some I could send it to you if you want.
Preparations. . . What sort of timetable are you allowing yourself for this project DE14? Just remember that undertaking any sort of video project requires lots and lots of careful planning before even shooting the first footage. Good luck with your project, and please keep us posted on its progress. Consider this a "Greenlight!" What will be your primary editing software, and who will be doing the music track for you? Will there be narration or just ambient sound with music? Lots to think about- again, good luck, it's a lot of work, but fun work. From what I've seen, you've got some good stable shots that are very well lit. You might want to have your videographer fight the urge to execute a turn before the rider does with the camera. A couple of times the camera traces the rider's line to the top of the wave in an exaggerated fashion. It's a natural tendency, especially if your videographer happens to be a surfer/bodyboarder as well. I've done it, and lots of others have as well. Your best work are the tight close ups that track smoothly pausing only for cutbacks. The distance shots are a tad tiresome, but you've effectively interspersed them with the close ups to keep the pacing of the video moving forward nicely. So far, good work! Is your goal to produce a "hardcore" project, or a blend of surfing and surfers (interviews)? One last thing, you might want to abandon, or at least simplify the MySpace page. It's incredibly hard to read against that very busy background. http://www.tripod.com will give you a free page along with some pretty easy web site building instruction. I think the free site is something like 20mb of space. Or, as you probably already know, create a clean web page that's a freebie, and then plug in what you've uploaded to YouTube for easy access via a link.
