My day so far today: 7:00am Woke up ate some food and checked some surf cams between Ocean City and Hatteras 8:00am Got to work, checked surf cams between Ocean City and Hatteras 8:30am Finally got to doing some work 9:00am Clicked on some add for FireWire boards, got stuck on their site for the better half of the morning debating between the Sweet Potato or the Baked Potato. (Both look incredibly fun) 10:00am Decided I would go with the Baked Potato, had it ready to in my shopping cart, watched a few more video reviews on it, realize it's almost lunch and I haven't done any work or even have the expendable income to buy a new board 11:30am Finally got to doing some work 12:00pm Skip lunch, check cam's, get caught up on kayak with their new flight map that includes prices, thing is sick (http://www.kayak.com/explore/) realize it's way past lunch and I haven't done anything. 1:30pm Finally get to doing some work 2:30pm Worked for an hour straight, minus a vemio window in the corner of my pc screen, time to check out what going on on SwellInfo. Find this thread, read through the whole thing, and agree that surfing in no way at all is addicting wow, I need my fix or I'm guna freak
so good retro, very good post. I can relate. it is an addiction every trip I have been on since 1997 has been pursuing waves (except occasional phish tour excursions), if I wasnt married all surf trips would be to europe I picked a college I could surf at I currently spent more money on housing and food so I can live by a spot where I can surf a lot I would have more money if I didnt surf, but then again, what would the point of that life been?
lol. No I am older than 12 but not a lot. I hate trolls they ruined the warhammer forum. But thats ok I havent even played warhammer now I can surf.
I had to look that word up hiatus. No way! Maybe if I don't surf just once a week I will not be addicted. My mum says people who get addicted dont work and steal and live on the street. But I never see a hobo with a surf board so I dont think it is possible to get addicted to a sport.
Every day in school i watch the cams and check forecasts from jersey to frisco and look at surfboards, surfer mag, and this crazy forum. Btw choppies learn surf ettequite quick and practice frontside turns
13 got first board sucked sat in my room for 9 years 15 doc said I was depressed brother flipped said no meds 20 failed out of college 21 became personal trainer got in shape heavy drinking and pot use started rebuilding my life 22 it clicked I could surf now tried it after 9 years and I was good at it. Slowed down abusive behavior to surf more 23 started building quiver 25 started surfing year round got winter suit best investment ever 26 bought a ****ty pickup truck with flames so I could surf any day I want with any board anywhere 27 decided surfing was more important then getting drunk nd staying out late I refuse to throw out surf mags I get anyone I can on a board and teach my clients how to surf friends And family I have boards I have owned for years and never surfed because its not the right day to ride it yet I checked si at least 6 times a day hoping for a good change in forecast My girlfriend who surfs says I suffer from foms fear of missing swell. But she surfs year round too so it's cool Surfed the morning of my grandfathers funeral and got one of the best rides of my life ( love you grandpa) I could go on and on but on a serious note my job is still a personal trainer and coach. Everyone and I mean everyone is addicted to something. Surfing is the best thing to be addicted to if you want to have the best quality of life and be healthy and happy. But all addiction can be bad you have to control it and try to decide what's more important. But if your not happy there's no point of doing it. Coach cory
By the way seen this post when it first popped and have been thinking about it since. I'm happy I got to vent.
