    Salisbury

Im from New Jersey and go to Salisbury(fairly cheap=main reason) cause i wanted to be near the ocean and get out of NJ. its a quick 30-40 min drive, not to rip on Delmarva but i wish i went to school in NJ. I miss Manasquan and LBI

    surfing colleges

Check out this link for info on surf colleges. I'm a teacher and writer in Maui, but I'm from the east coast so Flagler was the best choice for me because it was cheap, had decent surf, and it was just quick shot home to Jersey or to Hatteras. My other choice would have been UNC wilmington but Florida is super nice, you get the sharks but you also get the warm water. You can always go out west or to Hawaii once you get your degree. And there is no education like an east coast education!! Here is the link:

Alot of the kids from OC go to Flagler in ST. Augustine, but for waves you can't beat southern Cal., there are several schools there to choose from.

Agreed that you can't beat the west coast. But if you hang on the east coast, in addition to Flagler, up the road in Jacksonville in the University of North Florida which is a D1 school with great facilities, programs, etc. Plus, it is approximately 10 minutes from the Jax Beach Pier, Atlantic Beach, Neptune, and 20 minutes from the Mayport Poles (the A break) and the Ponte Vedra breaks, and you get access to the somewhat interesting nightlife and music scene of the city/beach combo area which St Augustine definitely lacks after about two weeks. Many people live in at the beach and commute to school. Overall it is a fun scene that comes with a smaller, more local feel than the "bigness" of other D1 schools...

Full disclosure: I am an alumni. I surfed every day, got my degree, and met friends for life who still meet once a year to go on a surf trip.

I graduated from UNCW in 2005. It's a great school, has a really great business school and Wrightsville beach gets really good. There's also an uninhabited island called masonboro that you have to paddle to and that place goes off. I highly recommend at least visiting Wilmington while you are deciding. One walk around campus and I gaurantee you will want to go there ; ) Getting in is another story...

    hes right

You can't really do better than UCSB for an all around great college experience. Last summer i got to live in SB for six months and it was awesome. The school has it's own point break if that helps.

    Student loans suck!

what ever you do DO NOT take a loan. they suck and screw everything up for your future. I can't take a year off because I always have to promtly pay my loans. take a year off before you ever owe/pay the fed anything.
