yall think its crowded now just wait with these two generations coming up i predict that surfing becomes less popular than it is, due to the fact that everyone is getting fatter and less athletic.... good news for us brahs.....everyone get ready for half as many people on peaks........maybe.............................................................................................................................................................................

hold on for butt hurt, i've got one better.

if you can't afford to live at the beach, then you can't afford to surf. it's simple really. get rid of free beach parking and charge like $10/hr to park in spots that are at least 1/2 mile from the beach.

why wait generations?...... price them out sooner.

I know it sounds corny but we are on the outside looking in brahs, it's good to keep it that way especially if the window gets smaller.

You guys all sound like what I would call "hopeful hippies". You underestimate the motivational force of marketing. Once the surfing marketeers tell your following generations that "surfing = getting laid", the ocean will be full of pimply teens from as far as several hours inland. It has already happened several times, and nothing will change it. Sex and money rule; always has, and always will......

for the record i disagree with charging that much to park.

but most wb residents would make it cost more if they could.

This is true, but I also feel like surfing is "hard". Humor me here, sure surfing's increased popularity will bring forth more eager people wanting to "learn". Most people try it and realize its super taxing physically to go out there and surf. Requires balance, endurance and being comfortable in the water. Many people don't have a lot of those three things.

It's reality man! I'm not talking about some far off thing. It has been like how you describe for a while. Mostly just posers or really sub-par surfers. Avoid the crappy/accessible spots and surf on days where there's "more consequence" and you'll find yourself surrounded by at least competent surfers.

This is true. Larger wave days, colder days, and risky locations have always delivered better experiences. I have now been surfing pretty continuous for 545 years (I am 64 on Tuesday). I still go to places many do not. Age hasn't slowed me down much...YET...but it will soon. My last "more consequence" location was Tres Palmas and Marias when they were at 12-14 ft, 15 seconds--only a couple of us actually got out at Marias, or even tried.
Best 2 sessions I have had in years.

He man/Methusela or Fruedian typo? Blowing smoke up your own pipe? Crappy, drifty, shifty beach breaks always have room, that's why I love them. They come with endless ramps and pockets, zero consequence and zero ego trips. Surf for yourself, who gives a crap what anyone thinks, you just can't stuff folks, karma will get you. I'm willing to bet there is no problem with crowds on HHI or NH. WB is never a problem even on the most crowded days, there is plenty of room because most are beginners/intermediates. Even a pro can't get 'em all. If you can surf then hustle up and get ya some. There aren't any cameras pointed your way.

Yup- my post should have read 54 years, not NOT 545.
And you are right--NH has no crowds. Not when I go. But I prefer to be out by myself which is what my point was. Some of us enjoy the solitude and peace. Others, need ramps to show off....
