surfing southern California in winter

recently it has been pretty cold, at least for southern california (water temps round 58 degrees and air temps around the same), but I've still been able to get in two hour sessions with just a 3/2

 

I'm a senior in high school in tustin foothills area (north orange county) and I just admitted an application to Cal Poly SLO. Fingers crossed that i get in; it seems like a really awesome/unique vibe up there
