good morning bros, hope everyone had a good friday night- anywho, allow me to pose my question of the day: I'm going on vacation with my family down in St John (USVI), has anyone been down to the islands when there have ever, ever, ever been waves???
yes there definitely is some good waves there.definately bring a board though, and try the campground, never mind the white trustafarian there and charge it.i don't think it gets big too often but definitely a fun looking wave,i did not bring a board...don't be me
Happens, but not often. Cinnamon Bay on the North side or Reef Bay to the South. Reef is the better of the two, but a bit of a hike down there. See em both for yourself here (leeward islands). Best best is an inflatable sup, nice place to paddle and you might luck out.
Been there and surfed Cinnamon Bay. This was during an enormous atlantic storm that was bombing Puerto Rico with surf they were calling some of the biggest waves in a decade. Cinnamon Bay was chest to shoulder and crumbly it was fun but nothing great. There was a reef within sight of cinnamon bay out to the left when facing the ocean that looked better, but it was way the hell out there. I think it was called Johnson's reef. I'm pretty sure cinnamon will be flat at this time of year since it's north facing. On my way to salt pond I did notice a breaking wave around the other side of the island, maybe it picks up south wind swell. I could never figure out how to get to that spot, it was down the mountain through arid, dryed out cactus and thorn bushes each with a bee hive in them, lol.
