Opiates not cocaine or any stimulant. When you're living behind a conveince store in Wilmington,NC(hey didn't they film Dawson's Creek down there....AWESOME !!! TOTALLY AWESOME) you want something to grove on and sleep/nod. You don't want to be up skitzing-out searching the ground. That's the way that is. Now, yes I endorse the sponge. You guys know you want to do it....but you're afraid of what your closeted friends will say. Notice how surfers keep calling everything differnet, "GAY". Exactly........Listen spongers, these surfers do sick things behind closed doors. They are a closed group of people who try and act "cool" and "tough". Surfers aren't bad. Some 22 yr old from Belmar can try as hard as he wants, but he's not somebody who has had no parents, lived in a warzone, North Philly neighborhood, who has had to scratch and claw for everything in life. Those are tough guys. Not Skippy from Ship Bottom because he rides a surfboard and somedays he works out.

 

RGNSUP, I'd be honored to sponge with you and yourselves. Even though I usually don't associate with North Jersey types , I will make an exception for you. Oh, people there is no "Central" New Jersey. You are either North or South. To outsiders let me tell you....North Jersey gets all the political power......they get all the perks.......it's always a North Jersey guy who wins the lottery, them and their landfills give the whole state a bad reputation. The South Jersey will rise again. But RGNSUP, you pay no attention to what I just said. You know, if the NFL only played 3 quarter games instead of 4, the Eagles would have finished 13-3 and be going nuts right now. Down with the Giants, North Jersey and New York.

 

So how did that work out, Mr Whaler? Did your parents get upset. Listen it's not a choice, you were born that way. Don't let some of society's ignorant make you feel bad about your self. You are a viable, special and important human being. Your sexuality nor your board choice doesn't diminish that fact. Now, you go out in the world with your head up high, and let everyone know that you are what you are - A sponge-loving, gay pride marching, ****sexual person. There is nothing wrong with that. Mr. Whaler, a lot of the people who bash you the most are usually harboring secrets of the same ilk. Do not let them bother low

I do stay Low, I'm on a sponge and yes I do go, go, go.....Because I don't pull back like back in the 80's when OC dudes would go to NSSA contests in Harvey Cedars and be like, "WOAH.....dumping barrels......can't handle them...why don't they break nice and soft like Cape May County does?" HAHA I'm just messin with you guys...I know times have changed but that is a true story.

I was born and raised in Cape May. Caught my first wave at Stockton Ave., got a nasty case of staph at Queen St., pool hopped at the Christian Admiral, got huge, perfect hurricane barrels at Poverty (all the Wildwood guys would show up on those days), and would frequently head up to AC when the swell and wind were right.

Went to college at Stockton, but when I transferred to Rutgers in my junior year.... everything changed. North Jersey was a complete culture shock, and I did NOT fit in. The up side to all this was the surf... it had POWER, SIZE, and consistency. And once you get hooked on that, you can't go back. Sure... I'm still and Eagles/Flyers/Phillies fan, and still a bit of a redneck way down deep, but I carved out a nice little niche for myself up here in Monmouth County and I'm happy I did.

As for spongers... well... God bless their little grommet hearts. There's enough shorepound for everybody.

 

Thank you sir, that means alot to me. Yes, I dig what you are saying Ponyboy. I'm from South Jersey but spent most of my surfing career(oh, I'm a special sponger, not many would have problems with me if y'all saw me. I'm more of a bull dyke sponger, not your average gay)......spent most of my surfing career at Casino Pier and then later the great Cape May Ave in Harvey Cedars........Cedars taught me how to surf. Ocean and Momouth Counties have the power. From 1987 - 2002 Cedars was my spot. Yes, I have explored Jersey from Manasquan south extensively. Was not rare for me to be everywhere from Poverty to Seaside in one day.....but mostly Cedars....and they done gone and killed Cedars(don't know it's status right now...but I stay put at an Atlantic County spot now)

I actually started this whole damn thing in Oxnard, CA( I moved a lot when I was a children) but my first Jersey experiences as a kid were at Diamond Beach in the Crest......Yeah......You know I got a few decent days there back in the day. But once I was competent LBI and north was the place to go. Jeez , I actually ragged on South Jersey surf back in the 80's and 90's......go figure consider SJ is my home.....Well I have to run. Oh I just love puppies, dude. A good Eagles game is when they win and Vick gets banged around a lot. Hey North Jersey vermin don't wear Ranger jerseys in inner-city Philadelphia. Just trying to help youse guys with that one. Don't be stupid. New Yorkers like to think they are real tough guys but people in Philly are just pissed 24/7/365....There is no Disneyland Manhattan full of rich beautiful people with hopes and dreams in Philadelphia. Philly's angry...always angry.

Oh, and just so y'all know I'm not crazy into mainstream sports. I used to be a pretty hardcore Eagle fan, but I don't get obsessive about it these days. Yeah, I still yell at the TV but you know........Oh, I like the Flyers too...OH that brings another topic. All Y'all STOP worshipping celebrities. Sports heroes, movie stars, third-rate "musicians," even pro, Aussie, 5'2'' alcoholic surfers. Stop idolizing these people. Please.......I mean what is wrong with people?? People getting all crazy because some pretty, douche bag, who pretends for a living, happens to walk by. STOP IT. STOP WORSHIPPING CELEBRITIES. Be your own hero....just be modest though.
