I'm a surfline premium member, and I will tell you flat out their long range forecasts are crap. I have yet to see one that accurately pans out (doesnt drastically change) when it's more than 4-5 days out. Look at how much the forecasts here (and surfline) change from what it's supposed to be 5 days out, and what it is the day before. The only thing surfline is good for IMO are the streaming hd cams.

Gotta agree with mattinvb, Surfline is sketchy at best and generally sucks as a rule. I would never give that surf whore one single dime of my hard earned pension.

Besides, no matter how well one's plans are laid, something is always assured to Fvck up every single contingency. My experience has been to just freeball it, and if Trestles isn't breaking (for example) you could surf San O or O'side. It's part of what makes a surf trip a surf trip.

Then again, this attitude could explain why I consistently get skunked.

I am well aware of the inadequacies. I just am trying to plan where I should head to after colorado. Theres basically a fork in the highway of interstate 70 of interstate 15 and interstate 80. One dumps you in so cal the other in sanfran area. I want waves above 6 foot faces if possible and I think seasonally landing in san fran and headin to santa cruz area and then heading north up to pacific north west would be the best bet. However, if there is a chance I could score solid so-cal spots prior to heading north I would want to give my homies a heads up I will roll through there a week in advance. I love freeballing, but I only have a solid month window to score surf everyday before my work season starts so I want to get as spot on as possible and score maximum waveage. I only say surfline because the long range forecast held true for both my costa rica trip and my first pch trip last fall.

Nothing personal Ri-Ri, but I personally don't get the whole Trestles thing. Yes, it's a great wave...but nothing aggravates me worse than paddling out with 50-150 guys out. There are so many other good waves around within 5-30 minutes. Waves that are just as good as Trestles...different, but just as good...without the ridiculous crowds.

i think i need some nor-cal northwest gnar right now. I missed winter surfing on the east coast for costa rica, so im fiending for some big stormy gnar and end of the world type coastline.
