I was in Galveston Friday7am to noon, as well as Sunday. Friday, for Galveston, was MUCH better than Sunday... Sunday small but clean. I keep saying Im going to drive another hour... looks like now I NEED to just do it.
So Chad, if you live in Lo-EZ-Anna, why don't you give us the dish on Fourchon and Chandeleur? I'll bet that island is firing on this current swell.
Brother, I live inLake Charles. If I could confirm conditions in Fourchon and Chandeleur, I would. I'm 30min from Crystal Beach, Louisiana... the 2 times I've been, just after a front (NNW 10+), nothing. I'm not familiar with why, but I do know its worth it to me to head 1 1/2hr west to Galveston. I never thought of those places as surfing spots, fishing and crabbing, hell yea! Next time I'm in those areas, I will check them out, as long as the blue crabs don't mind me in the line up!
On Saturday there was 5 ft. waves in Surfside. I was catching like hundred yard rides. And it was nice and thick all day. Spent 8 hours surfing Saturday. And the water was pretty blue and green with great clarity. I was linking up with the sections and able to really enjoy the waves because it wasn't packed at all.
