The pull backer is the #1 person I'll drop in on. I will also purposely and strategically get in the way of anyone on a SUP. I find it entertaining to watch them lose their balance and fall or get frustrated when someone gets in their path. Usually they get the hint and go bother someone else.
I like to shadow the SUPkooks - they see the sets first, then when they turn, I'm in the way, they can't get a good angle, unless they are skilled, then they usually are not where I am at in the first place, but on a way outside shoal off the Jupiter Inlet where it's a legit wave (so far I haven't seen one out there).
Only reason I do it and i think the only acceptable reason... When you've been trading waves with ur buds all day and burn one of them as a joke...
Nothing worse than the pull backer......the guy who sits at the peak then paddles hard for all the biggest sets only to chicken out and pull back even though he was positioned perfectly meanwhile you gave the courtesy. I don't care so much if someone goes for it and blows the takeoff.....just don't pull back like a chickensheet and have other people miss out because they let you have it.
When I was a kid, when the crew would yell your name, if you were on or near or behind the peak, you HAD to go, no matter what. Sometimes you made it sometimes not, but you kept your spot in the lineup secure. I remember one guy, his name was Neil, and when we called him in it was like an NBA intro...NEEEEEEILLLLLL!
Never! I always go , If you don't go! You don't know!!!! Hahahah Squids!! Its either the best wave of the day or Rollin up da windows! who gives a sh!t. Just Goooooooo!!
