Very nice vid! I dig eggs too but like Solo said I like em shorter. Around 6'5"-6'10" is perfect for me.

Same...I've owned a bunch of eggs from around 6'4" up to 7'0". I find that 6'6" is about the longest where I can do the kind of turns I want with my feet still in the sweet spot for speed down the line.

Then again i see quite a few bigger guys who have a eggs over 7 feet long dialed in just carving the hell out of medium to larger sized waves on them.

Surfing waves like that would help immensely with just about any shape! damn...

Is that San O or the equivalant ? Mushy, glassy california groundswell fits a mid size egg well, don't it? They can be a handful in OBX or Jerky style tubes though. Slow motion carvey larvae- the perfect name for my next egg shape...

I did a knock off of a Huevo Ranchero (Fletcher Chouinard) for a local guy who loves the thing. Modern bottom, rocker and rails, with a thruster/quad convertible setup. He takes it out in anything. A lot of people say eggs don't go good in EC beachbreaks.. that they need a more lined up wave. I disagree.

Can't see the link to the vid either zippy. happen's allot since I don't actually have a computer so all viewing/posting is from my phone. Always thought that was the problem. You on a computer or phone?

I have never owned an egg and don't have an incredible amount of experience riding them, though I have ridden a few. On paper, I think a short egg is the best board out there. Plenty of volume, can still rip on it, can work in small or big waves. I'm in the market for a new custom and I'm seriously looking at some eggs/eggish shapes. Maybe in the 6'0 range. Surfing on boards with more glide is the ultimate. I love that damn glide

You can totally see how restricted his moves are on that big a$$ board. If he would knock the size down to a 5' 8" homei would be killin it and havin alot more fun..

Looked like he was having a lot of fun to me. Maybe not everyone is trying to kill a wave. Maybe some folks like to flow with the wave and follow it's motion rather than "impose" themselves on it.

Your post above sums up what I and some others dislike about you. You think that your way is the only way and that anyone not "killin it" is not having fun. Your attitude is like a HS jock and the opposite of the free spirit surfing should promote. Surfing is an art and just like painting and music each person does it their own way. If we wanted to be told what equipment to use and how to ride a wave we might as well be playing organized team sports and wearing uniforms. Do you have a surf coach, video your session for review later and follow a training schedule to pump your surfing to the max?

PS that last line was a 100% serious question.

1st surfer ..."my board is 5'10" and I kill it"
2nd surfer..."Oh yeah? My board is 5'8", and I kill it better than you"
3rd surfer...."Dudes, my board is 5'6" and I slash and burn"
Old timer, resting between many waves caught, on a 7'10" egg...."all 3 of you are assholes and you never have gotten laid and never will".
