Just curious on what you guys think about inconsistent or sudden drops in the swell. Do any of you guys have to deal with this a lot? I live on the south shore of Massachusetts where it can literally be peeling head high and glassy then within 15 minutes become shin high wind chop..this happens all the time and can be extremely dissapointing. It always seems to me that no matter how good it is in the morning it's turned into Lake Erie by the time I can get to it in the afternoon..seems like we can never have good consistent swell for even an entire day, let alone just a few days of solid ground swell. My guess is that it has a lot to so with the direction and the cape blocking everything. Does this happen to any of you guys in other spots? Seems like most of the other places I go don't have sich drasticly inconsistent drops but I know basically everybody has to deal with this. Not complainin just curious..Thanks
Hey Mass Man I think that this is a surfing issue we all suffer from. However living in Mass is your first problem. Unfortunately there is not alot of surf to be had there. Go to Long Island, NY for better surf. Or you can move further down the East coast to Cape Hatteras, NC, where there is more surf to be had.
Haha i feel ur pain dude it's the same here in New Hampshire all i want is two days a week of solid surf..Hopefully this week forecast holds up. Did you guys feel the earthquake down there?
hey Brett, i hear ya brother! i'm from the south shore too. it's brutal watching the buoy drop from 4 ft to 2 ft while your stuck working, and everyone north and south of us is still getting solid swell...that said, hopefully we get some decent waves from rafael! you can never tell how it's going to fill in around here. surfislife, ya we felt the earthquake down here. i personally didn't but a lot of people i know felt a rumbling
when describing the south shore you need to replace "peeling and head high" with "closing out and thigh high" PM me if you ever want to go surf...im on the SS too
Up here in Maine it just about always changes mid session. It has a lot to do with not only wind strength but just a little change in direction can have a drastic effect.I wonder if someone out there that is knowledgeable about these details could share some wisdom with us.I wont drop in on you if you share some stuff lol.
