Any chance it will clear up in the afternoon?

bust out the night vision goggles - it looks like the clean up will happen in the middle of the night.

Would it be worth driving up to OC on Sunday AM for a day trip?

tough call and a gamble i think. these types of swells are notorious for getting skunked. we ahve a wind swell and then heavy offshores starting early. by morning it COULD be blown flat or like knee high. it's all about he winds. If it starts later and is less then forecast (NOAA is saying 20 to 25 w/35 gusts), then it looks better. if the winds hold and star when currently forecast, then you gotta be prepared to be disappointed.

i hear what you are saying about the skunk factor. but i am feeling as if something might show through. biggest problem i see is tides. by the time the tides starts moving in our favor it really should be dropping fast, swell size that is. but this morning was more then what i was thinking it would be, although still just waist high, dumpy, no form,... but it was ridable.

And I saw...There is/was a push out there this morning, and if we get those reinforcement winds through the day on Sat. and into the evening, It might end up being a great... Log day at least, by 11/12? on Sunday. ......Bright clear skys, and clean,..man it sooo makes all the difference when it is clean. small swells show through so well with with good offshores.

So lets hold out hope on this one, and might be better then just bringing the Log.

I love looking at the report and knowing exactly what spot to surf, while everyone else is beating themselves over the head trying to figure out if it's worth it. I will offer up a hint to you all:

    Saturday is the day

Hmmm....Man, I wish you the best of luck with that "exact" spot in the OC area with a 25 mph SOUTH wind. You're right, you will probably be the only one out surfing head high chop.....kook.

Haha I love it! I definitely won't be the only one out, because there is only one spot that works with a huge south swell, and howling south wind.

To tell you the truth, i would not bother with OC. i live. their all the past swells sucked. the sand is really bad. the only good spot that faces south in oc, their is too much sand build up at the peak and will take two or three south swells to push it out.

if tomorrow is your idea of a "huge" south swell, you deserve northside.

8 second straight south wind swell....deep bottom...outgoing tide until late afternoon...weak.

NSIRI is always good for a laugh, that is for sure. And when it is worth it, the OC crews, and a few DE rippers, go up and take it over anyway.... assuming other spots are a no go.

    Good luck out there.

no worries here..except for work, which always sucks,..when you could be surfing instead. i bet the form was better, wherever you were. Now that I think of it, as clean as it was, along woth that push and swell direction this morning, the 14th,..that must have been some sweet fun, wherever you were.

Yeah, today ended up being strangely fun. We drifted about 8 blocks in the first 45 minutes but the waves were powerful with pretty long rights, pretty much no lefts though. Was alot better in the water than it looked from the shore.

yeah today was really fun down here in wb nice rights. except the wind wanted to go offshore but it just wouldnt go. but the drift wasnt that bad. the only problem i had for the first hour was that i had my epoxy which blew out of my feet a few times until my girlfriend brought my normal fiberglass shortboard then i was just fine.:D
