Emass went from 0 to BroBrah in two years; MJR has done it in two months... Plus, aren't you friends with Emass anyway, AtlanticO? ...Fun chilly waves today, mostly rain with occasional periods of hail. Solid waist, working all morning & through the high tide. The lulls were extensive but an occasional chesty nug came through. Clean waves, good times.
Bro you can taste it. If you read much of the forum upon my arrival you'd see submission was the last thing I did. I got into it with more than a few cats on here lol. And foamies/Bics? Giuseppe, I've never been on a board longer than 7'7 let alone owning one. Taste it brahhhhh!!
At least rcarter is staying honorable and dutiful to his HOTY14 cause even when the title is no longer within his grasp. You have to respect that and admit the brah is one fine Sweller.
Let's see . I got a brah, foamie, bro, cats .ooh my . I must be in the red bull house at pipe with some old schoolers or went back in time to 2005 when it was cool. ?
Mr. Yankee thanks for the nod. I think HoStevie deserves an award for something. Even if it's his benign weirdness...
that isnt harsh that is pretty mellow did he insult your woman parts? your mother? your ethnic background? your affiliation with sheep? keep tough young one
EMass sure don't need my help, but I like real life stories, so here's one. I worked in factories fixin gizmos for decades. Always had a knack for figgerin em out. Could fix anything. Don't know why. Was fun for me. I'd go to a new factory and the old timers were like, "Who the F do you think you are comin in here and thinkin you'd master this place in a year?" I'd ask "How long should it take?" They'd say "10 years at least." I'd always be as cool as I could, not a show off, etc. Just always loved tinkering, since I was a little kid. The old farts hated on me at first, then we ended up getting along great after they realized I was just kinda weird and liked the machines. Some dudes just learn stuff faster than others. EMass could very well be like that. There aint a law that says it HAS to take him 10 years to shred. Works for me.
What about a nomination for most gear purchased in a year? Clearly that is Mr. Emass' to lose. By my count he has 17 wetsuits, 9 skateboards, and 14 surfboards. I've been surfing for 28 years and I haven't hit those numbers. My first shortboard, a 6'2 Gary Linden, lasted me 6 years! (It was neon green and yellow and was mostly covered in stickers by the time it just couldn't float me anymore) Some might wonder if he has, um, inflated some of those numbers but since we give everyone the benefit of the internet doubt, we'll just have to take his word for it. Can anyone else top his gear purchases?
Ha! Go big or go home! Smoke em if ya got 'em! EMass, you COULD start your own surf shop. But I ain't one to hate on someone who is successful. Just remember us little guys. We all ain't lookin at fat stacks of cash, but there's room in surfin for all of us dude. I know you know that. Rock on, homie.
Lol jealous bro? Just about everything I purchase is at half price or less. I identify what I want to get, then I have patience n waiting for it to come around (usually online) at the deal level. Between skate and surf, I'm accounting for anywhere from 4-7 days of exercise per week. It's my main hobby now so those are pretty good expenditures. You could have members list their other hobbies where they spend far more and get a lot less out of it. I've got 3 suites that I wear, and all were found half off or better. My other suites are backups or for friends and got those for pennies on CL. Considering I charge year round in all conditions, winter surf outfitting is a safe and practical undertaking. If you're out in February, you're damn glad to be in the right and fitting rubber. 5 skates that have all been ridden long and hard and stay well-maintained. For surfboards, that number has been going down lately as I've been making trades and selling some and profiting off the good CL buys I'd made along the way. The quiver is getting close to complete with boards of all types for all conditions and that will level out at 5-6 sticks. Thanks for the concern bro. Glad you're trolling me again. Figured we could bury the hatchet but maybe I'll save time and put you back on the ignore feature. FYI as seen in the post your wetty quiver tread, yankee takes the title for deepest suite collection. He's got it all and it's enviable!
how about SOTY.... Skank of the Year award. that would go to Stankee's mom for sure. on that note how in the world is Stankee up for hoty? I single handedly destroyed him Roy's thread. I certainly don't give a crap about this stupidity but picking on and trashing Stankee is pretty much common place and pretty much risk free as his comebacks are garbage. Ok,so I nomiate Stankee for FOTY, f~a~g of the year. Congrats Stankee! now watch as stankee cherry picks through my quote and replace everything with my name. what a kook.
Lol bro no doubt. Here's the thing - for the same stack of cash someone spends for a full-price $570 suite (we see cats posting similar prices on here) I get a 5/4 Drylock, 2/2 fullsuit, and boots and gloves for two temp ranges and still have about $100-150 left over. That's smart shopping bro. Same for brand-new board purchases. Not saying they're impractical and shouldn't happen if you know what you want and have someone to make/sell it at a good price. For the price of a brand new board, I can purchase 2-4 sticks in good to near mint conditions and ride them regularly. That's how I've built up my quiver - smart purchases of reliable goods that have high value for me and maintain good market value.
Are you getting sensitive in a thread about hater of the year? Just nominating you for the SI Consumer of the year. I mean, its been 2 years little grom. You're now hitting 20Ft at 20 Seconds on the west coast, you've been on a surf trip to costa, you've visited every break on the east coast, have 12 surfboards, 10 skateboards, 14 wetsuits, and from the looks of it, you're now figuring out how to apply a stomp pad to your pro-model that you are charging overhead november barrels with. Its a tip of the cap to you, Emass. If your skin isn't thick enough to be nominated for Si Consumer of the year maybe you should put on one of your five 7 mil wetsuits.
There weren't barrells yesterday. Wish there were. It was mushy and spilling not spitting. Still have a lot to go for visiting EC breaks. Nothing at OBX yet or the Carolinas or AI. Some of Jerz I've hit but not MD shore. Dis tread is to discuss all the Swellie nominations and there's several awards like TOTY14 and POTY14 that are way up in the air and need some attention and discussion.
Looked at the Hamp cams earlier. They looked ok. Wasn't into the drive each way even though it's not that long. Was just up that way for family dinner yesterday after the home break sesh. Checking out home break in a few but it's not looking promising. Really need consistent surf. There's snow on the ground too now. Damn.
