Sacrifice? Pfft! I'm graciously providing him with my artistic creativity, at no charge. New logo and motto attached. Something like that, anyway. The log-in could be located within the eyewall. Prob look better with a round border, if any at all. That blue within the border was pulled from the current website theme. This is the "Blue Lagoon" gradient background. Changed my mind in preference, for a few reasons. This computer is barren of software at the moment. He can redo it with decent software, making all look ten times better. If he doesn't know how, I could be persuaded to finally bother with my software installations. I've never used MS Paint for anything but quick screen captures...it's nothing but junk with a capital "J".
Colors aside for a moment, what would be state the art in presentation is termed as a "video theme". An extremely slow motion clip of an empty wave or two, with an interactive appeal, would put the redesign over the top. Something like this: Will see if I can locate a website with a decent video theme.
Another one: the wave at 1:40 would be good (semi-decent lighting and interactive). Guy would prob give it for the exposure, provided he were properly credited. Actually located a surf website with a video wave theme: https://www.hto.ca/ ^Scrolled down their landing page. Their use of the transparency tool is outstanding and would work extremely well for this redesign.

Good morning, Admin. Still playing with all. May I please have a copy of the branding photo, without the text overlay?
Based upon your chosen branding image, 1-3s of the "Blue Glitter" screensaver might make for a nice fade-in transition, to 10-12s of a looping, slow-motion empty wave video on the landing page. It could assist with highlighting the text, before and after the wave video (black fade-in/out). Screen grab with landing page text: There are plenty of royalty free stock to choose from, in a variety of color schemes: Possibly a water droplet/ripple transitions Sand even looks good (@ 9s, 35s, and 55s for speed variances): Then there is always animation (water simulation to text): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEEOZSkV5IU Regardless of a potential video as the layout theme, I prefer a white italicized text with nice font layered over something dark. It looks/feels clean and is contemporary. Sending an image to you via private conversation. It contains a design layout of page two. Switched back to the "Venice Blue" gradient. Incorporated an edited version of your chosen branding photo, along with access to media (photographs/videos).
Thanks for everyone who tested the redesign... Much appreciated! The redesign site was locked down, so we could address some issues and fix some things. There were a couple bugs found and some good feedback. The new design will be launched very soon. Its always a work in progress, so we hope to continue to enhance things.
Just a quick thought... I was checking it out the other week and really like the new layout. The only thing I could suggest is having a similar, easy to read, 'surf forcaste' section- like the old site has now with all the different colors and wave heights and just a few wind direction and swell heights/direction for certain times of the day- like morning, afternoon and before dark... I only mention this since I realized that I don't spend too much time actually analyzing the swell and forecast, but rather just a quick glance so I can home in on the time and day when its good next- then clear my schedule for that time- then analyze the data closer. All this to say, just having a quick synopsis of the outlook (that's easy to quickly read) is helpful, with drop downs for more info. kinda like what you got going, but maybe make it stand out more with more color coding or something... Also, note, this could be just due to the fact that I have been looking at the same forecaste for many years and just used to seeing the same thing over and over...
Hoping none of those mentioned "bugs" are RATs. Guess I should have already initiated spyware, etc... I could be mistaken, but I thought that had been successfully executed within the branding photo? [Filled most of the photo, since I believe it has yet to be released. Also added a blue line to the side of the wetsuit, in order to 86 the sickly green layer on and behind the guy, and to carry that added layer of blue throughout the composition ("rule of thirds" - color composition). Also added hair, in order to hide the image distortion. Rough edit, but can tell it would be an improvement] That's why I edited the text located over it to read as follows: ^ I interpreted that section as a way to enable easy access to saved forecasts, no? I like the idea of hovering over "Surf Forecast" with a wave-like line materializing underneath it, in order to indicate that it is interactive. Hover over "Wed" etc., and same. Click to access. I think that could be helpful and further aesthetic. I believe the branding photo would work great enlarged as the bottom layer, with all else scrolling forward/backward over it, much like the shaper's image within the HTO website. Scroll further down for "Articles" section, further for "About", etc, even though everything can also be accessed at the top of the landing page (as previously mentioned, a slow motion wave video, fading in from this or the like):
