Ok so I went surfing the other morning and I got sick. But besides that I am now pretty much deaf in my right ear. All I can hear is a whooshing sound. I didn't realize it at the time but the only explanation is me getting water in my ear. I know you have to go to the doctor to get like eardrops to fix it but is it something I need to do right away? If I wait until Monday to see he doctor am I going to damage my ear?

Well you could just get aerodry, which is eardrops. Or it could just be built up wax.

If I was still deaf in my ear after sleeping on it overnight I would go to the doctor or ER.

if you just cant hear it's most likely one of two things. wax build up, or a swollen ear canal. neither of them are a big deal. the swollen ear canal will result from swimmers ear, just go to the doctors and get drops for it. have them look inside and if they think that your ear has a bunch of wax in it just have them flush it. (they take this big syringe type thing and blast your ear with water it feels amazing when they're done)

if you stay out of the water for a few days and put the drops in it will be better in no time.

    good luck

I get it all the time and waiting a few days won't hurt as long as you stay out of the water and put drops in. I would still get to the docter because having it turn bad really sucks and can ruin half your summer with discomfort and partial deafness as you try to fight the infection. I had it over a month last summer and surfed a couple of swells with it and it was really distracting to say the least.

dont do q-tips, because you can scratch your ear easily, especially if you get any sand in there. This can cause infections, especially after surfing, because there can be bacteria in the ocean water.

If you have water trapped in your ear, go to the drug store, and by ear dry stuff, which is just alcohol that will dry your ear up.

If your ear is inflamed, or sore, then you should go to the doctor, because you could have an infection. If so, you'll need some antibiotic drops, and possibly oral antibiotics if you have an middle ear infection.

I've had quite a bit of experience with dealing with ear infections.

Swellinfo is right never use a Q-tip, that's how infections start. Last year I had the worst infection ever, had water in there, inflamed ear canal, itchy as hell. Stuck a q- tip in to scratch the itch, felt like all the way to my brain it itched so bad. Next day light stabing pain, day after severe ice pick to the brain feeling whenever you even looked at my ear sideways. Stayed that way off and on over a month. Bad .

if you have some regular issues with your ears, a good idea is to get some ear dry solution, and put some drops in when you get out of the water.
