I hope everyone got to see this. It was one of the best heats I have ever seen. Surfline has a short story on it, with some nice vids... http://www.surfline.com/surf-news/t...-that-was-one-of-the-best-heats-of-my_138990/ You can also watch Heats on Demand on the WSL site. Most of Round 3 was boring, but this heat was insane, and supposed to be Taj's last. I was never a huge Taj fan... always preferred Parko as far as Australian's go... but WOW, what a way to go out. It may be time to finally anoint JJ as the new king.
it was great to see two great surfers trading amazing perfect waves. Taj is a great surfer and seems like his head has always been in the right place. When he first qualified for the CT as a teen and decided to wait a year because he didn't think he was ready, that said something about his mindset. He lost that heat to JJ when he fell while celebrating that (amazing) barrel instead of thinking about the next section of wave to work. Good on Taj for knowing when its time to move on.
