We went to Dominical for a few day trips. It was fun. I liked the town better than Hermosa and Jaco. It was really chill. Definitely a place you could surf all day, then get some dinner and a beer and pass out. The breaks were a lot of fun too. You get to park under a bunch of palm trees but be careful, my friend backed our rental SUV into a palm tree when we were leaving. Luckily, the rental was so dirty when we returned it that Avis didn't notice the big dent in the bumper.
surf camp im goin to CR in november with my dad. it's our second tome down there. This time we goin to do that witches rock surf camp tour. we gonna fly into san jose airport but we wanted to kno if the surf capm has a shuttle that will pik u up from the air port and take u to tamarindo. Does anyone no if they have a shuttle that takes u from the airport to the witches rock surf tour/camp area? Any info helps thnx.

I got vaccines for hep-a, hep-b and tetinus. Also got some anti malaria pills. I didn't get one mosquito bite though. I went in late November. If you get malaria medicine, you may want to stay away from lariam. Apparently that stuff has serious side effects. My friend took it and said he had crazy dreams. He woke up screaming one night, LOL!
never had any shots before i went. check and see if you medical coverage will even pay for shots. they usually don't worry with prevention. they just deal with it after you get something. i am still trying to get over a case of Costa Rican butt rot that i got five years ago. JK. i did get my daughter the malaria medicine and i am sure thats what gave her the nightmares along with some other side effects. she was 2 1/2 on her first trip. there is no way i am giving her that medicine again. there is one concern, dengue fever, spread by mosquitoes. you might want to read up on it a little. my buddy said his wife just got it about a month ago. they live in an area that i thought dengue fever would not be a problem. you shouldn't have any problems in the northern area around tamarindo. d
its a long haul from San Jose to Tamarindo to get to the camp. 7 hours depending on how many times you stop. you might want to fly into Liberia if you are only going up to Witches rock. that or just rent a 4x4 and hit some spots on the way. there are some places in the Nicoya Golf to stop at on your way through.
Nice. I have heard good things about Dominical. Im planning a 6 week trip there after New Year. One girl thats going along stayed there last year for a couple months and loved it, surfed everyday. I've heard about consistent beach breaks and a nice point wave within hitching distance. I also like the idea of staying in a little town as opposed to the boonies, but thats just me. Any more input?
There is NO malaria anywhere in Costa, Dengue is another thing, but you can't do anything to prevent it besides using a bug repelent. Dominical has tons of mosquitos in the rainy season. The first time I went there was in October, I think, and we walked on to the beach after dark and got eaten alive. My wife has gotten dengue at least a few times, anyone who lives there gets it at some point in there life. It basically just gives you flu like symptoms and is only really dangerous to the young and old.
Only siths deal in absolutes. All I know is what I've read in travel guides, books, and what doctors have said. I'll take their word for it over yours. No offense.
Yeah I have read what I just told you, maybe a decade ago there was malaria but it has been aleviated. I have lived there, my wife is from there, etc, but you can believe what you want...
