I'm heading down there from the Northeast to visit some family in Buckaneer land. After checking the swells in the Gulf I'm now racing down there past them to the beach. I've NEVER even stepped foot in the Gulf let alone surfed it. I don't want to blow up a spot or anything but if anyone could give me a read or some sort of info to go on that would be a lot better than what I know now which is basically a map and Swells Forecasts. My cousin, who doesn't surf, says Clearwater would be my best bet, but given the Bold and Big print on the map I suspect it'll be crowed and I don't want to add to any congestion (that's why I left Jersey;) So any hidden sandbars, sucken ships, or whatever that makes a good spot would be greatly appreciated...Is the Swell gonna roll up or down the FL coast past Sunday? I need info...Por favor y Pura Vida

ps...fingers crossed for all you Texans

too be honest there should be plenty of spots that are holding good waves from this swell so you could luck out anywhere.try clearwater bch. or if you want to drive south a little there are good spots in bradenton and sarasota. check out google earth and just head where you think it looks good

Ha I'm answering myself cause everyone out there is probably surfing or should be, I'm darting across from Georgia, timing couldn't be more perfect as the eastern shores are settling so hopefull by sunset manana as I had to hold up for the night. A couple of motel calls and I'm guessing I'll have to 'Ham' it 'Up' and see if it is as rediculously packed as the Virginia Beach inlet jetty is out by Tampa...Though I might have to go see with my own eyes why Swell Info is saying is saying double overhead at Cedar Key and a motel chic was saying flat like tops in the eighties. Is she protecting a spot that has East and West, a shoal? Is she on an inlet or something? Or is swell info wrong? Cedar Key looks lot closer to Jacksonville than Tampa. Are there waves there? Stop surfing and answer my questions... JF WUA, my bad, enjoy the surf, I'm gonna look for ghosts in Savannah tonight...Hopefully Someone have answer by tomorrow before I get to Jacksonville.
