What's up guys? Just wanted to know how long should I wait to get back in the water after getting a tat? I heard that it will either heal faster or that you can get a serious infection. This weekend looks fun and I would hate to miss out on it, but my chest and shoulders are scabed up and I don't want to risk it!! Any feedback is appreciated!

    Thanks

Open wound. Bacteria-infested water. Usually not a good combo platter.

I think you right Yankee.....but I might just go for it and hit it up with bacitracin after the sesh! It's pretty much all scabbed up and healing pretty well...It's not ozzing out or anything.

    2 weeks is the recommendation.
The infection aspect is minor. The salt water can mess with the ink and cause the tattoo to loose color and fade sooner, and if you've got scabs that's also bad. If the scab comes off too soon you'll lose "chunks" of ink.

if you want to take care of the scabs use Aquaphor or a non-scented hand lotion.

Don't rush it dude. I went in about a week after getting my wrist done years ago and believe it or not some of the ink actually lifted out of my skin and is permanently in my gloves. Also wound up getting some ridges on the line work (it looks beveled) -- Let it heal!!

salt water is the cure for everything..
