    Usually you do several strands of rope, or several strips of cloth, wetted out first, then pinched together into a solid mass and laid out on the board. Cloth patches go over the ends of the rope, as you've done. My recommendation is to add more cloth to the actual loop. Either additional strips, or pull strands out of a scrap of 6oz, dip them into a cup of resin, and wind or pinch them together. You sort of mold it with your fingertips to the shape you want, over a pencil or other round object to keep the loop open.

    I've also done it exactly like you described, except formed the bridge solid (after finding it difficulat to get the fin rope to span the pencil snugly) and drilled a hole through it...right up the stringer just level with the hotcoat surface.

    Yankee this guys a kook... we know he can't surf and has never surfed outside of South Carolina. He has never even left the summer. He's a green surfer. If you count riding white water surfing.
