Showed up at Nantasket for a surf with spicoli.. ordered the `modern blackfish` and overnighted last night. Put my new 4/3 wetty on with boots and gloves at the house.. THanks.
Both the OP and first reply are standouts. This thread looks like a keeper. When we were charging the horizontal Tasket in x-country fashion we thought we saw a dolphin out in the distance when it was just a rubbered-up MVsurfer trowin buckets out on Oak Bluffs in the 6ft @1.5s with 58mph NNE. What a baller.
When you met Spicoli, was it one of those times when you thought "wow, he looks nothing like I pictured him"? I imagine Spicoli to be about 5'9", skinny as a rail, brown hair, and COVERED in Abercrombie.
this is why you NEVER suit up at home.. nahh I aint superstitious.. been there many times... im sure there are many more to come.. we all get skunked. Interesting to see this huge spike in swell for thanksgiving. Keep the faith! Waves will come..
Ho, brah! Maybe at the end of each of my posts that are now in the 20th century I can list the greatest surf fact/achievement of that calendar year in surf history and folklore. Aww shucks, I done went and wrote a mouth check my attention span and typing hands can't cash. I'll promise to do it here and there as we approach the segunda millennial mark. FYI...a bit more height, not much fat but well built at that, no Abercrombie since they went public in '96 (faux Sirius), and don't forget the ear to ear stoke perma-grin. 1903: In the doldrums of Puerto Escondido, a young charger named Jebediah Paddington invented what would be later known as a "layback" when he slipped off the back of the rounded coconut timber he often floated on in the heavy surf.
