Font Rincon-Hangout.com www.rincon-hangout.com 40 years ago, surfers from around the world began their journey to the enchanted Island of Puerto Rico for the 4Th World Surfing Championships in the beautiful coast of Rincón, Puerto Rico. From Domes to Maria's Beach, surfers from around the world began preparing for the World Surfing Championships of the history of surfing a week before the contest. But On November 7, 1968 the 1st heat kicked off at Domes beach with knee to head hight waves heating up the coast with a large crowd of expectators from around the globe. During the finals, Rincón became part of the history of surfing with waves reaching 10-15 foot height at the contest site and reporting 20-25 foot at Tres Palmas. Since then Rincón became the Surfing Capital of the Caribbean and known as: El Pueblo de los Bellos Atardeceres y Capital del Surfing.
