I somehow missed this but Beatification Tucks just guided me here...

He's so fkn lucky I'm not a tribal warlord, I'd try to be like Hannibal and get him to peel off his face then feed it to dogs in front of him.

The folks in the doco are doing God's work for sure.

This is a situation where I wish I had more money for two reasons:
    1. I'd rescue more pittys. My current big boy misses his sister who passed 18 months ago.
    2. I'd build a Dr. Evil-esque pool in my yard that was the home of several hungry Tiger sharks. Mike Vick and his kind's punishment would be to be tossed into said pool for my enjoyment.

I'll donate to that. We are on our second pit-baby. Rescued from the hell of dog fighting in central North Carolina. I say this with all seriousness... if I could legally kill dog fighters, I would do it with a bowie knife and my bare hands.

Thanks for sharing Yankee, it takes a strong, loving, and knowledgeable dog owner to take in dogs like these and rehab them. They have been traumatized beyond belief and there is no guessing what mental shape that dog is in when you get it and what it might act like. I'm sure there are plenty of trying times and challenges for a lot of them.

Being able to earn their trust i'm sure is no easy task. Once achieved i'm sure it's a very gratifying feeling for the owner and it's probably a strong bond between them and the dog at that point. I'm sure lots of work went into rehabbing those dogs, both physically and emotionally. People who just think these dogs are nothing but dangerous animals that should be outlawed just don't get how animals work and probably shouldn't be around any, for everybody's sake.

Good stuff brother and very true. Me and the wifey have rescued three pits in the past 10 years. (And two cats that the dogs are actually scared of). One of the dogs was really a challenge to get him to trust us but with a LOT of effort, he came around. He really bonded with my youngest son and they are inseparable now. The other two were much easier. Given healthy food, a clean healthy living environment, and a lot of affection, they came around real quick. My 80 year old pops took the one. They are like a comedy team together. The other one, (the ***** of the group) was my dog. I f@cking loved that dog. She died about 18 months ago. I still haven't had the heart to replace her even though I know there are tons of others that are waiting on a good home and my wife is clamoring for us to get another one.

Thanks bro, back at ya. One thing my parents taught me was to never trust a person who doesn't like animals. I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule, but for the most part I have been able to tell a lot about a person based on this principle alone.
